Red Flags Raised Over Micah Hudson’s Texas A&M Exit as Insider Drops Bombshell on Transfer Portal Move

4 min read

‘No feeling is final’. This must be the motto of former five-star recruit Micah Hudson. The name must have become very common in the college football landscape. After all, this is the second time that the wide receiver has hit the transfer portal since the end of the 2024 season.

As the confirmation drops in that he is leaving Mike Elko’s Aggies squad, college football analysts discuss what the future has in store for him. And no brownie points for guessing, an insider painted the bleak reality. After all, his constant swaps expose a lot of red flags. Meanwhile, Elko has got a blueprint to move past this snub.

Micah Hudson catches side-eyes from analysts

On March 19, Elko confirmed that Hudson, who joined the Aggies out of the transfer portal on December 15, is no longer with the program. Yes finally the Texas A&M fans got the clarity they had been waiting for since January this year. Now what makes Hudson land in the hot seat? Before moving to the Aggies, the well-touted WR prospect signed with Texas Tech. However, he could not adjust himself to Joey McGuire’s family due to a lack of games and involvement. Turns out that this has now become a trend for the WR. As analyst Chris Hummer pointed out the pattern.

On the 247 Sports show, the analyst clears how money factors have never been the reason behind Hudson’s decision. Back in December, a tweet went viral claiming that a star WR transfer for Texas A&M football had eye-popping NIL demands.  It was reported to be $700K NIL money. On that note, Hummer dished out his take. “I don’t think it was necessarily a money thing for Micah Hudson, it was a fit thing. They have to weigh talents which there is plenty vs. some of the disruptions that have happened with Micah Hudson over the past six months in terms of being on the roster.”

Analyst Gerald V. Dixon then took up. According to him ‘he couldn’t adjust’ turns out to be a sheer excuse. After all, in the pro league, this factor will be a big turn-off for him. He himself shared what he would have done had he had the power of recruiting. “If he ends up back with Texas Tech that’s some nasty work. That’s a dirty work at both sides.” After all, this shows his indecisiveness and lack of loyalty leaving the Aggies in their worst times. “If you look at it, you left when A&M couldn’t survive a couple of days… You are going back to the team that you left. So when you leave and come back and I’m in a school that’s looking at getting a wide receiver, I am not touching this. Makes me scared. Like red flags all over the place.”

Though Hudson came to Lubbock with a lot of hype, he never managed to carve out a large role in the Red Raiders’ offense. So in a way, it has not been a costly loss for Elko’s army. But the HC has already started to fortify his fortress to address the issue.

Mike Elko’s focus on the WR room is showing results

As the 2025 spring season begins, it marks the onset of Elko’s second year as the HC. On March 19, Wednesday, Elko, alongside senior cornerback Will Lee III and starting quarterback Marcel Reed, spoke to the local media. The HC addressed what the fans can expect in the coming four weeks. And post Hudson’s exit, it’s mainly going to be the wide receivers’ room. Just like Hudson, another name did get a lot of attention in Elko’s squad this offseason. That’s none other than the former five-star athlete and sophomore wideout Terry Bussey

Finally, the HC came up with the much-awaited clarity. “Terry (Bussey) is a wideout now. Terry came in a little bit banged up when we got him in the summer. He never quite got healthy through summer training. He started camp playing corner, and we flipped him midway to receiver… You saw scratches of what Terry is capable of.”

Here comes another name that might reduce the Hudson woes a little. Not to forget about the former NC State wide receiver KC Concepcion. As Lee III confirmed, “One receiver that has really stood out to me since he’s been here is KC Concepcion… He’s leading that wide receiver group along.” Now the question is – Will Mike Elko forget about the Micah Hudson snub with their new wide receiver room?
