Quincy Wilson never disappoints! Whenever faced with a challenge, this 17-year-old proves equal to it like it’s everyday business for him. And at the 2025 Ed Murphey Classic, he did nothing different. Wilson was going to be facing the 29-year-old Tokyo Olympic gold medalist and 400m maven, Steven Gardiner, at this Sunday’s race. Many raised eyebrows about whether the youngster’s talent could match Gardiner’s experience and speed. Well, the answer’s going to leave many shocked!
At the 2025 Ed Murphey Classic, Wilson finished first in 44.10s, whereas Steven Gardiner, who was right at the back of the race for the first 30 seconds, suddenly pulled away right before the men came off the final curve and entered the homestretch. While Gardiner stood there, still on the track with his hands on his knees, evidently struggling, it was Quincy Wilson who went on to take this one home. The Bullis prodigy lowered his own personal best of 44.20s today, and shaved off 0.10s from his own U18 world record! Just 3 weeks away from the US nationals, this is something, right?
