‘Princess’ Taylor Townsend’s 4YO Son Adyn Melts Hearts With an Adorable Confession for Her Mother

The news of Taylor Townsend’s 2020 pregnancy arrived as a seismic shift, a hard reset on the very core of her existence. From the moment she knew, she embarked on a grueling, necessary introspection, confronting the shadows of her past—childhood traumas, ingrained patterns—to forge a new path. This deep dive into her own psyche, though painful, became her guiding compass, allowing her to define the parent she wanted to be. An 18-month hiatus from tennis became a pivotal chapter in her transformation. “Having a C-section, rehabbing through that, and losing almost 90 pounds to come back and play,” admitted Townsend. Now, nearly five years later, despite the demanding tennis schedule that still pulls her away, a recent, heartfelt confession from her son has filled a small but significant part of the void.

Townsend likes to share candid moments with AJ on social media. Taking to her Instagram yet again, on Wednesday, she put up a clip with AJ. In the description, she called him “Literally the best son ever ” But what did the little one say that eventually won her mother’s heart?

The video started with Taylor telling AJ, “I just want love. You are so handsome.” To this, she received a very sweet message from him. “Thank you, princess.” The moment she heard those words, Townsend couldn’t believe her ears. Trying to contain her emotions, she then told him, “You are the sweetest.” But the 4-year-old wasn’t done with his appreciation for his mom. He added, “You are the sweetest princess I ever know. And you do nice things for me.”

It was clear that Townsend wasn’t able to resist her happiness. She was feeling really lucky to have a son like him. “You’re gonna make me cry. I love you,” she told him. To this, he then said, “And thank you for letting me know you.” Well, this last gesture was enough to make Taylor exclaim, “Oh my gosh!” while experiencing the best time of her life as a mother.

However, when she was pregnant with Adyn, she revealed how “Motherhood gave me so much perspective. I never had anything take me away from the game before—no injuries, no anything—and that’s a blessing, but I also never had anything to create distance from the sport. So when I got pregnant, I decided I wouldn’t play for at least six months after giving birth so I could fully immerse myself in being a mom. I had no pressure or expectations in my mind,” in an interview with Women’s Health.

As far as the adorable moments between the mother-son duo go, this wasn’t one off. Just days ago, Townsend showered AJ with lots of wishes and love on his special day!

Taylor Townsend celebrates son Adyn’s birthday with a special message

For the uninitiated, Taylor Townsend gave birth to AJ back in March 2021. Prior to his arrival, however, she was skeptical regarding her role as a mother. Especially keeping her career in mind. “One of the things that was shocking was I didn’t want kids because I have spent my whole entire life playing tennis. I’ve been playing tennis since I was four,” she revealed in an interaction with Essence last month.

But look at her now. Seems like motherhood has really changed her perspective toward life and her own self. So much so that she can’t stay away from Adyn anymore. Despite the professional commitments, she now tries to make a balance. How?

She added, “…it’s also really strange because I won a Grand Slam, and then one day later, I’m in a different country, and I get my a– kicked, and it’s crazy, but that’s just how tennis goes….I’m really enjoying the time that I have to myself. When I’m on the road, and I don’t travel with AJ, I really try and just use this time to ask myself questions and get one with myself. I try to use these opportunities to grow as a person so I come back and I’m able to instill certain lessons in him or certain realizations that I’ve maybe come to while I’ve been gone to help me to be a better mom to him. I’m enjoying it.

Just nearly a week ago, the 2025 Australian Open doubles champion also celebrated AJ’s fourth birthday. On Instagram, she shared a post, dated March 14, featuring a series of wholesome pictures with him. In the caption, she wrote, “Screaming HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my son, my everything, and my ultimate blessing! ” Undoubtedly, this mother-son bond is one you can’t get over. Don’t you find it absolutely adorable?
