Prayers Pour In for Ohio State Athlete as Ryan Day Already Senses Trouble

2 min read

Training camp started with a jolt for Ohio State when defensive tackle Eddrick Houston, the heir apparent to Tyliek Williams and a key piece on last year’s national championship defense, apparently suffered a serious leg injury on day one and had to be helped off the field. Standing 6 feet 3 inches and weighing 295 pounds, Houston was expected to anchor the interior defensive line this season.

An OSU insider revealed that Ryan Day offered little clarity after practice: “He said he hasn’t talked with anyone yet about the injury Eddrick Houston suffered late in today’s practice.” It emphasizes that DT is one of the few spots left where Ohio State can’t afford a long-term absence. Fans and players quickly took to social media with prayers and support, “Praying for Eddrick Houston” echoed across Buckeye channels. DT is the last spot on the roster where depth feels shaky, making this hit harder mentally than physically.

Needless to say, it’s one of the last places the Buckeyes can afford to suffer long-term injuries.

Louisville transfer Will Smith Jr., Jason Moore, Tywone Malone Jr., and others were already being groomed to fill in, but none had logged consistent reps last season. Now, OSU must rely on developing fast, or reshuffle the entire defensive front rotation.

This is a developing story…
