PGA Tour Champ Sends 3-Word Message to Girlfriend as Augusta National Tradition Reveals Her Competitive Side

3 min read

The echoes of past champions have gotten louder in the breeze as The Masters nears. The golf world prepares for the intense matchup. Top names like Scottie Scheffler, Ludvig Aberg, Rory McIlroy, Xander Schauffele, and more are up for the event. There is a lot to witness before the events start. As before, at the Masters tee-off, fans can witness the golfers swinging with their family.

“The Par-3 contest is something special. You know, tradition of the Masters and being able to go out there, and now being able to spend with it my family,” said Rickie Fowler about the unique day of golfing with family just before the Masters. The day when all golfers enjoy playing with their loved ones. Now, for the 2025 season, the event is filled with the excitement of witnessing new joiners on the list. To make it even more exciting, Julianna Chan, “Juju,” girlfriend of Sahith Theegala, has shared a new update.

Juju shared an Instagram post about her participation in the Par-3 contest. There was a video of her practicing to hit the green. With the caption, “another day of practicing for the masters par 3 #themasters #golf.” The par-27 course with nine holes has one of the longest traditions to make the day family friendly. Even with the attempt from Juju, it is clear that she will be accompanying Theegala.

But it is not just Juju, even Theegala also approved of her practice session by commenting. He wrote, “You’re gonna be dialllledddddddd .” Theegala, who is practicing for his appearance at the Augusta Nationals, will be featuring on the course a day before with his partner at the Par-3 contest.

Apart from the light-hearted vibe before Masters, the event holds some unique facts. Let’s take a look.

The Masters Par 3 contest facts

The event, which seems like a light-hearted one, has some interesting historical feats achieved. Take the example of Jimmy Walker, who in 2016 recorded a course-low score of 8 under 19. With the help of six birdies and an ace, he set the record low and led with 3-strokes against Keegan Badley and Craig Stadler.

Even Padraig Harrington, the three-time major winner, has also etched his name with the most wins at the contest. The golfer won for two consecutive years  (2003-2004) and then went on to win again in 2012. Apart from these two, the tradition that began in 1960 by Sam Snead, until now, has continued to have different winners at the Par 3 and the Masters.

Even after 65 years of the Par 3 contest, no one has won both. Take the example of last year, when Rickie Fowler engraved his name in the Crystal Bowl. In his Augusta return, Fowler dominated the Par 3 Contest, firing a 5-under 22, fueled by an impressive streak of five straight birdies. But with his Masters performance, he was far from winning. Fowler finished at T30 with an over-par 5 score.

Now, with this season, can the tradition of two winners break? What are your thoughts on the Par 3 contest? Share with us in the comments below.
