Paul George Knee Surgery: When Will 76ers Star Return to Action?

2 min read

This is not the kind of summer update Sixers fans were hoping for. Paul George, who’s heading into his second season with Philadelphia, just had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee after an injury during a recent workout. ESPN’s Shams Charania reported the news on X, saying, “Philadelphia 76ers star Paul George underwent a successful arthroscopic procedure on his left knee Monday to treat an injury suffered during a recent workout, a team official tells ESPN. George will now begin a rehab program and be re-evaluated prior to start of training camp.” The knee in question? Yes, it’s the same one he battled multiple issues with during the 2024–25 season.

So, where does that leave him for the start of 2025–26? Honestly, it’s still unclear. Reports are saying the setback isn’t anything major, but no one’s locking in a return date just yet. George is expected to be re-evaluated in the fall, and only after that will the Sixers have a clearer timeline. With training camps set to begin in September, the hope is he’ll be ready, but at this point, nothing’s guaranteed.
