Pat McAfee’s been living it up in Glasgow this week, but no, this isn’t some random vacation flex. He was there for work, soaking in the chaos of Monday Night Raw while Ian Rapoport held things down back home on March 24. “I’ll tell you what, Glasgow is lovely. I’ve been waltzing around this town all morning, kinda getting a lay of the land, seeing some things,” McAfee said, sounding more like a tourist than a guy who usually spends his days yelling about football.
But the fun’s about to get even bigger. Pat’s teasing a major career move in his latest IG post. And no, it’s not another WWE cameo. The ESPN analyst is lining up an interview with LeBron James on The Pat McAfee Show. Yeah, that’s right, King James is soon going to be on your screens. Pat first teased the news in an X post on Monday, writing, “Obviously, we follow the NBA a lot closer… I don’t want to give anything away… LeBron James is going to be on the show this week.” This had McAfee’s studio crew excited, with fans asking when it would happen. For a day, the former punter kept the suspense, but now he has finally revealed the date.
Now, in his latest post, Pat McAfee has finally dropped the date and time in his signature style. “Be a friend, tell a friend… Tomorrow, 12:05 Eastern. The LeBronversation with the program happened. It was AWESOME… about an Hour and 15 minutes. Chatted about damn near everything,” penned the former punter in his caption.
The 37-year-old also shared a few snippets from the set, revealing that the interview would be pre-recorded, not live, since King James has a game against the Pacers. But judging by the pictures, it already looks like a blast. So, you all better plan your day accordingly because Pat and LeBron are coming to crack you up.
Speaking of McAfee, the ESPN host and analyst isn’t just making waves with his LeBron interview. Pat has also stirred the pot with his latest take on abandoning this year’s NFL Draft.
Pat McAfee’s U-turn: Back in the draft game
McAfee did his show at the NFL Combine this year, and he was not quite pleased with the treatment he got over there. Following the Combine, he also sarcastically called out the NFL middle managers. “Middle management is doing what they never do, making it easy. You guys are really good at your jobs,” Pat said with a mock applause.
After his not-so-pleasant experience at the Combine, there were reports that he had withdrawn from doing any future shows with the NFL after the Combine experience. Front Office Sports on X posted, “Pat McAfee will not be taking his show to the NFL Draft after being treated with what he says was insufficient respect by ‘middle managers’ at the Scouting Combine.”
But McAfee quickly shut down these claims, saying he never used the term “insufficient respect”. Although the former punter did admit there was some friction, he never said anything about not covering the drafts. “If I was to address every single thing that was being said that was b——-, even though the quotes in the whole show were already out there, I would be spending my entire life addressing b——,” McAfee said. “The Combine and the Draft, two different events,” the ESPN host added.

On Monday, while Ian Rapoport was filling in for him, Pat McAfee made a surprise digital appearance—and it seems he might be rethinking his NFL Draft stance. “The more and more I think about it, you know, maybe we do go shake their [the NFL’s] hands. Because it’s going to be an electric factory over there. That place is amazing. I can’t wait to see,” McAfee said, hinting that he might just show up after all.
The 37-year-old also dropped an intriguing teaser, suggesting that Aaron Rodgers could be joining him at the draft. “And also who our guest host potentially would be, would be a good thing to be over there,” he added.
The NFL Draft is from April 24 to 26, which means there’s still about a month to go. So, even if Pat McAfee and the NFL have any beef between them, they’ve got plenty of time to sort it out.
