“The building was a little bit different with Tom in there. Obviously, playing-wise, Tom is different. He had everybody dialed in, high-strung environment, so I think everybody was pretty stressed out. … They wanted me to come in, be myself, bring the joy back to football, for guys who weren’t having as much fun.” Baker Mayfield took a playful jab at Tom Brady on his leadership quality last year, fuming many of TB12’s fans. However, he later clarified that the context was taken in a wrong way, and that Brady has an unmatchable “aura.” Although the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’s QB is far away from Brady in many ways, this time he topped him with a new feat.
Tom Brady helped the Buccaneers to win Lombardi in 2021. However, despite being such a legendary player, he wasn’t able to achieve the feat in his 3 years, which Baker Mayfield did in two seasons. The 29-year-old is named to his second Pro Bowl on Tuesday. And with this, he now became the first QB to earn multiple Pro Bowl invitations in franchise history.
Hence, celebrating the same, Baker Mayfield shared a story on his official Instagram account. In this new update, he shared a banner featuring him, Tristan Wirfs, Mike Evans, and Vita Vea – all named to the Pro Bowl of this year. Therefore, while expressing his feelings on the achievement, Mayfield wrote, “Grateful to be back. Shoutout to my teammates & coaches for making it possible.”
Let us remind you that Baker Mayfield is replacing Commanders’s quarterback Jayden Daniels in this NFL honor. It’s because the rookie, who led his team to NFC after 33 years, has decided to not participate in the 2025 event.
