It’s a difficult day for three-time Patriots captain and seven-year veteran in Foxborough, LB Ja’Whaun Bentley. As per ESPN’s Mike Reiss, the expectation is that the Pats will be releasing Bentley today. This comes just over the weekend when Bentley was declared fully recovered from his torn pec suffered early last season. Knowing what’s gonna happen, Bentley even posted an emotional message before heading out of New England for a possible new chapter. “New EnglandThank You for EverythingIt’s Been a Blessing ” Bentley wrote on X.

While the Patriots released Bentley from their roster, they are expected to target a controversial player in the upcoming draft. One scout told sportswriter Bob McGinn, “Josh Simmons issues are more football character. He has a complete sense of urgency, like a total finesse player. Mental is an issue. Lacks power, struggles to anchor. Fundamentals are poor. Plays like a guy that was at a JUCO and just came here.”
