Remember what Taylor Fritz said when he signed with Maestro Dobel Tequila back in April 2023? “I only want to align myself with marquee brands, and I really do enjoy Dobel tequila, so it just made sense,” he remarked, expressing his enthusiasm for partnering with the renowned Mexican brand. As the Southern California native looks to expand his brand beyond tennis, the Maestro Dobel collaboration offers him the perfect opportunity to step into the business and endorsement world. And Fritz is embracing it, both literally and figuratively, as he proudly promotes his signature tequila cocktail ahead of the Indian Wells Masters. Guess who’s eager to take a sip? None other than his US teammate, Danielle Collins!
With 8 ATP Tour level titles and a career-high ranking of World No. 4, Taylor Fritz is no stranger to handling pressure on the court. And now, he’s turning up the heat off the court as well, thanks to his partnership with Maestro Dobel Tequila. Signing on as an official partner in 2023, the American No. 1 has crafted his signature cocktail with one of Mexico’s top-selling tequila brands, which boasts a heritage of over 250 years.
Maestro Dobel Tequila has deep ties to tennis, serving as the official tequila sponsor for major events like the Miami Open, BNP Paribas Open, Western & Southern Open, and the US Open. In 2023, the brand’s Ace Paloma became a fan-favorite at Flushing Meadows as the tournament’s first official tequila. And recently, Fritz’s very own “Fritzy Spicy Margarita” is making waves at stateside tennis events, with fans getting a taste of his signature creation often.
Having been born in San Diego and hence growing up just near the Mexican border, tequila has long been a favorite for Fritz. And ahead of one of Maestro Dobel’s key tournaments on the tennis tour, the Indian Wells Open, the 27-year-old is once again promoting his favorite tequila, catching the attention of fellow American, WTA Number 14 Danielle Collins, who cheekily expressed her wish for a sip.
Just a couple of hours ago, Taylor Fritz shared a sponsorship post on her IG, captioning it, “It’s almost time for the BNP Paribas Open. Excited to see the fans enjoy my signature @dobeltequila Fritzy Spicy Margarita from the Dobel Tequila Club located at Stadium 2 Shade Pavillion! Cheers to a great few weeks! #AcetheMoment.” And, just as the ATP tennis ace shared the post, Danielle Collins jumped into the conversation, playfully commenting, “I’ll take one on the rocks, please!”
Well, this isn’t the first time the American ace has showcased his love for the tequila brand. Back in July last season, Fritz was on a high heading into the Wimbledon QF, fresh off his third Rothesay International Eastbourne title and a victory over the German Alexander Zverev in the R16, and talking to the press back then, he opened up about his go-to drink.
“There’s a lot of influence being so close to Mexico, and tequila was always my go-to drink. It doesn’t impact the time spent on the court. I’ve gotten to be a guest bartender at a few tournaments, mix cocktails for fans, and spend time with other ambassadors, including Aryna Sabalenka and Juan Martín del Potro,” he remarked.
As for Fritz’s on-court performance, well, he has had a subpar start to the season so far. However, a former top-ranked American has praised his growth and maturity, offering an optimistic outlook as he heads into the BNP Paribas Open tournament.
“He can compete with the best of them,” Stevie Johnson praises Taylor Fritz’s maturity ahead of the upcoming Indian Wells
Taylor Fritz has struggled to hit his stride in 2025, starting the season with a 3rd-round exit at the AO. He then faced R16 and QF defeats at the Dallas Open and Delray Beach Open, respectively. However, the former American No. 1 Stevie Johnson remains confident that Fritz can deliver a powerful performance at the upcoming Indian Wells.
In a recent episode of Nothing Major Podcast, Johnson said, “He had a bit of a stomach issue, some type of minor injury. But as we know, when you have an oblique or something, it doesn’t heal the more you play. Fritz is somebody that, I think this is a good sign for him. “He is maturing. Normally five years ago, he would have just played until his body broke in half. He loves to play every week, and he can compete with the best of them.”
The World No. 4 enters the iconic Sunshine Doubles event with a direct entry into the second round, where he will face either the Argentine Sebastian Baez or a qualifier. After being the top seed in both the Dallas and Delray Open, the American sensationnow holds the third seed at Indian Wells, trailing the German 2nd seed Alexander Zverev and Carlos Alcaraz.
With Alcaraz and Iga Swiatek dominating in recent years, fans are eager for a homegrown champion this time around. Can Fritz rise to the occasion and claim the title at the first Masters 1000 event of the season?
