Rebeca Andrade, one of Brazil’s greatest gymnastics stars, has finally made a decision that will change her career’s trajectory. With the World Gymnastics Championships approaching, the Olympic champion is choosing a path that prioritizes longevity over everything else.
In a recent interview with Olympics.com Rebeca Andrade shared “Vault and bars are totally fine for me, so I’ll do them. Beam I’m not sure, but it’s not as demanding on my body as floor, I’m sticking to the decision of not doing floor for now.”
“It’s so important, and it shows how much we’re being valued and respected by the people in charge,” she said. “We need to take care of ourselves, especially in this moment that us ‘old’ ones are going through, so we are able to help Brazil achieve the top one more time.”
Andrade’s decision reflects her wisdom that pushing too hard could risk her future. With careful planning, she aims to help Brazil stay at the top while preserving her body for the long run.
