President Donald Trump tried to play GM for the New York Giants. But according to the team, it was news to them. During Monday’s White House celebration for the Eagles, Trump went off-script and claimed he had warned the Giants not to let Saquon Barkley walk in free agency. “Do anything you have to, but don’t lose Saquon,” Trump said, even calling Barkley “a handsome guy” during the revelation that also name-dropped Taylor Swift and the infamous tush push.
The Giants? They aren’t buying the story. Senior VP of Communications Pat Hanlon told Front Office Sports there were “no conversations” between Trump and the team. When pressed, Hanlon just shut it down with a simple “No,” before tossing in some personal flair on Twitter, “With all due respect, stop yapping. Be the leader we all want you to be. And my 401K wants you to be. I’m trying to retire!!” Honestly, sounds like Hanlon had that one ready to go.

Meanwhile, Saquon’s just over here minding his business. He caught heat for golfing with Trump and flying to the White House, but clapped back hard, saying, “Maybe I just respect the office, not a hard concept to understand.” He also reminded everyone he’s teed it up with Barack Obama, along with Jalen Hurts and Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie. Hurts didn’t attend Monday’s ceremony (along with half the Eagles roster), but Lurie, Nick Sirianni, and Howie Roseman made the trip.
The White House hasn’t weighed in yet.
This is a developing story. Stay tuned…
