Not Only Katie Boulter but Even Beau Alex de Minaur Red Flags His Fiancée Over Her Training Drills

“Here goes the wedding budget…” Remember that classic Alex de Minaur comeback? A few months ago, after losing a mixed doubles match at the Eisenhower Cup, Katie Boulter playfully jabbed him on social media, and he fired back with his trademark humor. It’s just one of the many lighthearted exchanges between the two, who’ve mastered the art of playful banter in their five-year love story. From cheeky IG digs to witty X replies, their relationship thrives on laughter and mutual mischief. And most recently, the 28-year-old poked fun at him again over the Madrid blackout, and unsurprisingly, de Minaur is clapping back, humor fully intact. But how, though?

Alex de Minaur was set to face Canada’s Denis Shapovalov in the R32 at the Madrid Open on Monday. However, a widespread blackout across Spain and neighboring countries forced the postponement of several matches, including his. Taking to X after the chaos, the Aussie joked, “Don’t mind this off the grid thing . On the 3rd walk off the day and finally got some service to check on the rest of the world .”

But while the Aussie blamed the outage for going off the radar, his beloved Katie Boulter wasn’t buying the excuse. She clapped back on X with a witty jab: “Imagine blaming a country blackout for not texting me back all day. Elite behavior.” And now, in true de Minaur fashion, he’s returned the serve with his signature humor, keeping their playful back-and-forth alive and well.

Just a couple of hours ago, Katie Boulter gave fans a peek into her intense training routine through an IG video that perfectly captured her dedication and a little humor. The clip showed the Brit grinding through multiple training sessions: starting with on-court drills, then moving on to weightlifting at the gym, followed by high-intensity running. The video ended on a lighthearted note as she panned the camera to a teammate who had passed out from exhaustion. Captioning it with, “The process. The end ,” Boulter showcased both her work ethic and signature wit. And it didn’t take long for Alex de Minaur to strike back, responding with three red flag emojis, referencing their earlier banter over missed texts.

Boulter’s Madrid Open campaign saw her fighting through the singles draw unseeded. She made a gutsy comeback win over Katerina Siniakova, 4-6, 6-2, 6-1, before falling to the in-form Jasmine Paolini in the 2nd round, 6-1, 6-2. In doubles, she paired up with Daria Kasatkina, but the duo bowed out early in the opening round. Despite a short run in the tournament, Boulter made her presence felt both on and off the court, offering strong support to her fiancé before heading out of Madrid due to her packed schedule.

Before her departure, Boulter was even spotted in the stands cheering for de Minaur during his commanding 6-2, 6-3 win over Lorenzo Sonego. Her absence didn’t dull her spirit, though. Even from afar, the Brit continued to support him, with a few cheeky remarks thrown in. When de Minaur posted photos from his match against Shapovalov, humorously noting, “shorts are getting shorter,” Boulter was quick to jump into the comments. Her playful reply? “Ffs we’ve talked about this, stop showing the goods to everyone.”

Whether it’s courtside support or long-distance laughs, Katie and Alex continue to serve up couple goals. Their bond, filled with playful jabs and unwavering encouragement, shows that love in tennis doesn’t always come with aces; sometimes, it’s the banter that wins hearts.

Katie Boulter playfully mocks Alex de Minaur’s outfit

Earlier this month at the Monte Carlo Masters, de Minaur turned heads with his stellar performance, reaching the QF before falling to Lorenzo Musetti. His most impressive moment came in the R16, where he stunned the tennis world by dominantly defeating Daniil Medvedev, 6-2, 6-2.

Following that big win, de Minaur took to IG, sharing a photo with the caption, “Step by step QF @rolexmontecarlomasters.” Fans were quick to applaud his efforts, filling the comments with praise and admiration.

But Boulter couldn’t resist injecting some playful humor. Instead of complimenting his win, she focused on his outfit, joking, “Not sure the short shorts are a win tho,” Her cheeky remark added another chapter to their ongoing light-hearted online banter.

Now, as the Madrid Open heats up, de Minaur is preparing for a R16 rematch with Musetti. With the Italian ace leading their H2H, can the Aussie flip the script this time?
