There’s a 38.4% chance that the Florida Panthers win the 2025 Stanley Cup. Close second? The Dallas Stars with a 25.5% chance. At least, that’s what MoneyPuck says. Whichever way you look at it, the Panthers have looked the real deal in the 2025 Stanley Cup playoffs. They go clutch whenever they need to go clutch. And after the 5-2 win against the Carolina Hurricanes in Game 1 of the Western Conference Championship, a mind-blowing stat has come out. It definitely backs the perception that the Panthers are playing like Champions. So, what are the numbers saying?
As per a tweet from Miami Herald journalist Jordan McPherson, the Panthers are averaging 3.85 goals per game in the 2025 postseason. Well, that’s just the start, although that’s not bad in itself. Of the 4 teams that remain, only the Edmonton Oilers have scored more per game at 3.91. But it’s the next part of the tweet that starts to tell a story about the Panthers roster.
“They have 17 players with at least 1 goal, 13 with at least 2.” OK. That’s quite impressive. Definitely shows how the Florida Panthers have a deep bench. And you know the primitive but still effective saying – goals win matches. And no wonder the Panthers are always on the right side of the result. To give you a perspective, of the 22 skaters used in the playoffs, the Panthers have only 4 players who haven’t slapped the puck into the opponent’s goal. And just 1 player without a goal or an assist. (We are leaving out Sergei Bobrovsky from the count.)
But the big 2 reveals are what show us the high collective level at which the Panthers are operating. McPherson’s tweet continued: “What might be more incredible: They haven’t had a player with a multi-goal game since Game 1 vs Tampa when both Tkachuk and Schmidt scored twice.” And when you combine this information with this stat, which the journalist shared in the comments, it will just blow your mind. “In the #FlaPanthers’ eight games with at least four goals so far this postseason, there have been seven — 7! — in which every Panthers goal was scored by a different player.”

Yes, lots of unpacking. But we will take it step by step. Well, first things first, 3.85 goals per game tells the Florida Panthers are scoring quite well. No issues there. And then, they have a lot of different scorers on the roster, which is also good news for a Panthers fan. Lastly, we are seeing that multiple players are turning up with their scoring touches for every game. Like in the Hurricanes game on May 20, the Panthers had 5 different scorers.
In Game 7 of the previous round against the Maple Leafs, the Florida Panthers scored 6 – through 6 different guys. Same case for the 14th May game. In fact, it’s staggering that, except for the first playoff game, the Panthers haven’t had a game with a multi-goal scorer. That’s 12 consecutive games. Well, what does it mean? Obviously that collectively the Panthers are turning up all the time. And when so many guys are playing well together, it’s natural that they will get the win.
What a coincidence that before this stat came out as a validation, a former Stanley Cup Winner had said how the whole Panthers squad is doing well collectively. So, what did he say exactly?
Former Stanley Cup Winner praises the whole Florida Panthers roster
3-time Stanley Cup Winner Pat Maroon was on the Pat McAfee Show talking about whether the Panthers are the real deal. And he spoke about how it all starts with team chemistry, and in the locker room. “I’m a firm believer if you have those relationships inside, uh, it’s going to carry over on the ice. You’re going to have confidence … to, you know, stick up for your teammates, you’re going to play for the guy beside you.”

Continuing, he said, “There was a great culture in those Cup runs that we went deep on, and that’s a huge thing for me. And I think we’re seeing it with Florida right now.” As for the quality of the squad, the former Tampa Bay Lightning forward said, “They’re a hell of a team. They have a goalie, they have four lines, they have great D—so they’re going to be hard; they’re going to be hard to beat. And, you know, in the series, (Toronto) got hit like 150 times.”
If the Panthers beat the Hurricanes, it will be the 3rd consecutive Stanley Cup final for Florida. Once can be a fluke, 3 back-to-back Finals is a method. And that’s what Pat Maroon said, “When these guys are out there, it’s exhausting. And I think that’s because of the culture they have in that locker room—the belief system, 100%.”
So, you the Hurricanes better raise their levels. Or the other two Eastern Conference sides who are vying for the final. The Panthers are going to make it hard.
