In an Instagram story uploaded by the Jamaican on June 30th, 2025, she added a post she made during the Paris Olympics. It was a silhouette of her in the starting position on the track in Paris, metaphorically captioned, “Melanin too dark to throw her shades “. Taking a trip down memory lane, she wrote, “This was my hair shrinked.” This was her iconic moment – the semifinals of the 400 meters in the Paris Olympics. Days before the semi-final, she had pointed out that she would be ditching makeup, wig and filter to show off her Natural beauty. She stated, “On to the next round Embracing my natural beauty , NO MAKEUP, NO WIG ,NO FILTERS 100 % melanin”.
On that day, she walked out with her hair styled in a high Afro puff, embracing her natural tight-coil. Now in her story, she announced, “Now I don’t even have half of this blown out. .I will be in wigs and braids until my hair grow back”
