On January 22, 2024, the Tennessee Titans hired Brian Callahan as their new head coach. Obviously, it was just a year to judge the coach’s performance on the team’s miserable 3-14 record. After all, this is typically a learning curve for Callahan, who is a direct learner from his father – the Titans’s OC, Bill Callahan. However, a year is sufficient to pinpoint any gaps within the team.
Hence, this off-season has brought an opportunity for the head coach. His wishlist is out, and he enters the market with his golden kitty bag to sign some popular names.
A day ago, general manager Mike Borgonzi and the Callahans came forward to help stitch the struggling franchise. They signed offensive tackle Blake Hance (who earlier played with Bill Callahan in the Browns) for a one-year, $1.3 million deal. Now, after this move, on Wednesday, Brian Callahan and the team reportedly hinted they are moving ahead to grab one more piece for their puzzle – Cam Ward!
As per NFL Notifications on X, “The Titans believe that Cam Ward is a ‘generational talent”. He will be the first pick in the 2025 draft.” Many franchises hope to land Cam Ward, as he’s smiling down on his prospects. He can rest his laser arm and get ready to sign his fresh contract in the NFL, for now!
We all know how the Titans will have the number one pick this time. And as Brian Callahan’s team isn’t left with many realistic options to upgrade their QB position, Ward’s pick might come as beneficial for them.

“If you don’t draft me, that’s your fault. You’ve got to remember you’re the same team that’s got to play me for the rest of my career, and I’ll remember that.” Cam Ward has already highlighted his aim for the league and the competitors. His belief in himself is quite interesting. After all, in college football, he put himself in contention for the Heisman Trophy by recording impressive stats – 39 touchdown passes, 9.5 yards per attempt, a 67.2% completion rate, with just seven INTs.
But the next stage will be the NFL!
Even Pro Football Hall of Famer Kurt Warner expressed, “I’m not sure any of these guys are that different from a processing, playing on time, reading the field type perspectives. I feel like the majority of these guys, at least at the top of the class, are very similar guys when I watch them on tape… Cam gives you a little of that kind of ‘Okay, he’s got a little uniqueness to his ability to throw the football.’ And I think that’s what catapults him to the top of the class.”
So, as per Warner and some other analysts, the NFL stage would be much bigger. Ward possesses his own identity but shares a similar identity with others in the Draft class. Even though the Titans might believe in him, they require a reliable long-time QB on the other hand. And Ward ticks all the right boxes.
Yet, making promises early on and not performing as well later on could potentially damage Cam Ward’s reputation. So, it would be interesting to see whether Ward remains a “generational talent” or slips back in the league. Until then, Brian Callahan is working on his offense with the help of their next QB.
Brian Callahan picks a durable O-line veteran!
Since the start of free agency in 2025, Brian Callahan and his Titans have been proactive in their choices. The team has added players, released some, traded a few, and announced various interesting picks this year. But, the most interesting addition to the team recently is offensive lineman Kevin Zeitler. Some call him the X-factor!
According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport on X, “#Lions free agent G Kevin Zeitler, one of the best and most durable FA linemen left, is expected to sign with the #Titans, sources say. A priority in Tennessee, he gets a 1-year, $9M deal. With family in Nashville, and the opportunity to work with OL guru Bill Callahan, this makes sense.”
This 35-year-old veteran has played in the league since 2012 with multiple teams. And now, as he will be on the road to support the Titans for the first time, all eyes will be on him.
Seeing all these, it’s pretty clear that Brian Callahan’s team will get serious to at least clinch a berth in the playoffs after 4 years. Let’s see what comes next for them!
