It seems everybody wants to fight Dricus Du Plessis. The middleweight champ is in an ongoing storyline with lightweight champ Islam Makhachev. The Dagestani pound-for-pound #1 fighter, of course, has long wanted a second belt. But with his friend Belal Muhammad holding the welterweight title one division above him, the Makhachkala native has gotten creative. To get his second belt, Makhachev has floated a potential middleweight championship clash against Dricus Du Plessis, who holds that title.
But after ‘DDP’s dominant victory over Sean Strickland at their UFC 312 clash today, another champion has thrown his name in the ‘DDP’ hat. Welterweight champ Belal Muhammad took to X and sent out a pretty direct challenge to ‘DDP’, throwing a wrench in Makhachev’s plans.
“I can be double champ pretty easily,” ‘Bully B’ wrote with his characteristic.
