NASCAR Texas Fan Guide – Tailgating, Camping, Cooler Policy, Parking & Prohibited Items for the Würth 400

5 min read

“I would like them to demolish this place and then start over from scratch,” said Kyle Larson, referring to Texas Motor Speedway. Located in the heart of NASCAR country, the 1.5-mile track has undergone plenty of changes in the last few years. The venue was repaved and two of the turns were reconfigured in 2017 to make them wider and flatter, but that hasn’t stopped ‘The Great American Speedway’ from being the annual punching bag for drivers and fans.

Larson isn’t the only one to think this way. Christopher Bell also said, “Certainly, if there’s a mile-and-a-half (track) on the schedule that needs adjusting, it would be Texas.” Meanwhile, Ross Chastain even admitted, “It truly is one of the hardest tracks to pass (on).” However, everything changed last April when Chase Elliott secured a triumph at the action-packed 2024 Autotrader EchoPark Automotive 400. Now, with a triple-header on the horizon, the excitement is at an all-time high.

Could history repeat itself in Texas, and will the Würth 400 live up to all the action, drama, and controversy that is expected from a race deep in NASCAR country? Time will tell. We are sure that you will be flocking to the grandstands regardless, so here’s what you need to know about the campgrounds, parking, and tailgating to make your weekend even more memorable.

Camping at Texas Motor Speedway

For fans wanting to stay close to the action, Texas Motor Speedway provides 24/7 camping right in the infield. That’s as close as it gets to being where the action will take place. The east side of the infield features interior and wall spaces from Turn 2 and Turn 3, while Paddock spots can be found in Turns 1 and 4. Campers will have access to showers, restrooms, and the infield itself, along with a dump station at Turn 4. The campgrounds are completely cashless, so guests will need to use digital methods or make payments with cards.

VIP and Reserved Camping Options

Fans can also enjoy an upgraded camping experience at Texas Motor Speedway. These oversized paved spaces provide 24-hour security, proximity to shower and restroom facilities, water supply, as well as a prime location near the main grandstand. They’ll also have one free waste disposal service. It also features a tow vehicle parking space. This campground is located between Allison Avenue and Labonte Lane on the south end of the track.

Meanwhile, WinStar World Casino & Resorts Reserved Camping provides a designated area for your RV/trailer as well as a tow vehicle, and is located directly outside Turn 3 between Lone Star Circle and Harmonson Road. It’s an option fans can go with if they want to access the track quickly without being in the infield.

Tailgating at Texas Motor Speedway

Tailgating has always been a big part of the race-day experience at Texas Motor Speedway. Many of the general parking areas double as prime tailgating spots, especially the lots on the west side of the speedway. Guests are requested to arrive early to grab a good space, set up your grill and enjoy the atmosphere with fellow fans.

Even though open flames and grilling is allowed in most parking areas, guests are expected to clean up the space and dispose trash properly. Alcohol is allowed in the parking areas, but glass containers are strictly prohibited. Loud music, flags and friendly games are part of the overall ‘vibe’, but guests are requested to keep everything respectful and in line with the track’s policies.

Complimentary RV Support from THOR

Throughout the race weekend, the THOR Family of Companies will provide complimentary mobile service to RV owners staying at Texas Motor Speedway’s campgrounds. Campers Inn RV powers this service, and once guests are registered, they’ll need to discuss repair needs and schedule a service time.

Prohibited Items and Activities

Certain items have been prohibited to ensure the environment is safe and enjoyable for fans. These include foam and hard-sided coolers, umbrellas, glass and ceramic containers, weapons, fireworks, drones, and offensive signage or clothing. Collapsible chairs, selfie sticks, tripods, wagons, skateboards, seat cushions with armrests and illegal substances are also not allowed.

Meanwhile, fans are not allowed to smoke outside designated areas, sell tickets on-site, engage in unauthorized merchandise sale, or take part in any unapproved forms of entertainment. Guests are also expected to review all guidelines to avoid disruptions on the raceday. So be careful before you enter, as you don’t want to have your day at Texas cut short for any reason.

Cooler and Bag Policy

Every fan is allowed to bring up to two bags with them, and each bag cannot exceed more than 18 inches by 18 inches by 14 inches. Soft-sided coolers up to 14 inches by 14 inches by 14 inches are allowed, as long as it’s one per fan. For convenience, guests can freeze water bottles before arriving to make sure their drinks remain cool all day.

So, there you have it. A complete guide to have a fun-filled and problem-free NASCAR experience this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway. Make sure to check out the full schedule for the weekend so you can plan accordingly. We anticipate an exciting race this weekend, which you don’t want to miss out on!
