Finally, we will end our montage with a piece of information about Kelvin Gastelum’s reaction to Joe Pfyer’s withdrawal from their UFC on ESPN 64 bout. So without any further ado, let’s get started.
Dana White set to be present at Donald Trump’s meeting with Bill Maher
“He [Donald Trump] saw it, he got it. He cut us that deal at [Trump Taj Mahal] when we went there,” said Dana White, reflecting on how Donald Trump helped save the UFC when it was being ignored by everyone in its early days. Fast forward to 2025, and it is now a multi-billion-dollar corporation dominating the world of MMA. Just as Trump supported White, the UFC CEO stood firmly by his side during the 2024 presidential election victory. Fast forward to 2025, Dana White has become a close associate to POTUS.

Taking to his Truth Social handle, Donald Trump emphasized that he would meet with his long-time critic Bill Maher and Kid Rock soon: “I’m doing a favor for a friend. I look forward to meeting with Bill Maher, Kid Rock.” And guess who will be there to accompany him? It is none other than the UFC CEO, Dana White. In his long statement, the POTUS added, “and, I believe, even the Legendary Dana White will be present.”
Dana White has been a monumental figure in Donald Trump’s presidential run, and it’s no surprise that Trump has enough confidence in him to invite him to these meetings. Now, onwards to news away from politics and in the UFC, let’s take a look at some news from the commentary team.
Jon Anik Praises Laura Sanko as she stuns as commentator
At UFC Mexico, Laura Sanko made her debut as a play-by-play commentator becoming the replacement for Joe Rogan, and joining Jon Anik at the commentary table. In the marquee event, Sanko delivered a stellar performance, knocking every opportunity out of the park. Her commentary was nothing short of top-notch, showcasing her expertise and composure.
Astonished by her commentary, Jon Anik penned down a message for her appreciating her commenting skills, “MEXICO CITY — No one better to talk me through a Peruvian necktie than this talent right here! Was great to share the booth with @laura_sanko for just the second time. Your desire to be great is as obvious as your preparation. Thanks for making me better,” wrote Anik on his Instagram.
Laura Sanko joined the UFC as a broadcast member in 2016 and served as the commentator on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2017. She later transitioned to an analyst role and now serves as a commentator, filling in for Joe Rogan for UFC events. On that note, let us move on to the last piece of the day featuring Kelvin Gastelum and Joe Pfyer.
Kelvin Gastelum releases statement after UFC Mexico fiasco
After a break of approximately six months, Kelvin Gastelum was set to make his comeback against Joe Pyfer at UFC Mexico. However, the fight was ultimately canceled when his opponent pulled out at the last minute, leaving him hanging. Last-minute pullouts are really annoying for the opposing party. However, despite that, the former middleweight title challenger was calm in his statement.
Taking to his X handle, Gastelum added, “I got the call that my opponent got sick and had to pull out the fight. Obviously I’m gutted to the core about this situation that is out of my control but Wish my opponent all the best in the future.” He uploaded a video alongside the comment where we can see how disappointed he was after learning about the pullout.

The UFC has yet to announce a rematch, however, one thing that is likely is the fact that Pfyer may have to face the wrath of Dana White after this pullout. Given that, what are your thoughts on UFC Mexico? State your opinion in the comments below.
