MLB Analyst Calls out “Clowns” Questioning the Legitimacy of Dodgers’ 2020 Triumph Despite World Tragedy

4 min read

The Los Angeles Dodgers are under the spotlight again! But this time the legitimacy of their World Series Championship win comes under question. Given that the whole world was going through rough times because of the COVID-19 outbreak, which led to a 60-game regular season with the other teams not playing their full strengths, fans do not acknowledge it as a legitimate accomplishment. But is that fair?

Well, definitely not! Given that whatever people say, the Dodgers aren’t the ones who choose to play a shortened season, right? Moreover, they didn’t play against very weak teams, as the Padres and Brewers were quite good in 2020. When people do not win, it’s evident that they will make certain excuses, and that’s the reason an MLB analyst lambasted them. The Dodgers won the 2020 World Series title in six games for the first time since 1988; the COVID-19 outbreak was a tragedy that limited the scope of laying every game in full strength. Due to the pandemic, the whole series was played at the Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, starting from October 20 to 27.

The seating capacity was also limited to 11,500 fans, which was just 25 percent of the entire capacity to prevent outspread of the disease and keep people safe while viewing the match. While most fans did not even consider it a legit achievement, calling it a joke, MLB analyst Dan Clark shared a post on his X handle: “Clowns who claim the Dodgers 2020 World Series win has an * because of the 60-game regular season, conveniently, to suit their hatred narrative, don’t mention they beat very good Brewers, Padres, Braves, and Rays teams in a normal postseason format, to achieve it. It’s 100% legit.”

Clark’s statement is true as the Dodgers played only 60 games, and the Brewers, Padres, and Braves were quite good that time. Although the San Diego Padres didn’t play that well, they still ended up in the 2022 NLCS, while both Brewers and Braves made it to the postseason in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 20223. The Braves even won the World Series in 2021, so neither of the teams was very bad. In addition to this, the Dodgers finished the major league with a 43-17 record, that too a 116-win pace over the 162-game schedule, winning the NL West by six games against the San Diego Padres.

So, it’s just like the Dodgers were a better team than the others, and questioning their legitimacy certainly does not justify the mettle they hold. People who questioned them were put into silent mode as the Dodgers lifted another World Series title in 2024.

The Dodgers lifted the 2024 World Series title, proving everyone wrong

Those who questioned the Los Angeles Dodgers’ legitimacy might have received a tight slap on their faces after their win. The Dodgers became the World Series champions for the eighth time after they won by 7-6 against the strong New York Yankees in game 5 that happened on Wednesday at the Yankee Stadium. While they managed to get off their frustration after winning the 2020 World Series title that ended their championship drought, their 2024 win silenced all the noise from the naysayers. The Dodgers heard a lot during the Covid-19 pandemic when it wasn’t a full season, playing in a bubble, and it wasn’t real at all for many. However, now, after the 2024 win, they carried out a winning parade after that comeback win. But that doesn’t end here!

The Dodgers’ third baseman Max Muncy said, “Now it’s two, baby. Now it’s two. What are you going to say now?” They made sure that no one was able to question them this time and had nothing to say. In the season where many players made massive comebacks into their teams, the Dodgers saved the best for the last. Manager Dave Roberts played seven relievers who finished the game, including the likes of Walker Buehler, who recorded the final three outs. Although some players battled injuries, the Dodgers still managed to win, proving everyone else wrong.

And now, with the Japanese juggernaut, Shohei Ohtani, back in the team, the Dodgers are ready to contend for some more titles. What’s your take on this? Let us know below.
