Millionaire Agent Rich Paul Takes Unusual Step to Save Money After $48K Salary Revelation Under LeBron James

4 min read

At the age of 21, when Rich Paul met LeBron James, he wasn’t close to being established. He was a salesman at the time, working for a store that sold retro jerseys. Likewise, he didn’t have a lot of money. Through an iron will and persistent hard work to leave his mark, Paul’s net worth is now estimated to be around $120 million.

However, even now, the revered agent still sticks with his old habits. He will do whatever it takes to save money. What might that be? The fans and NBA viewers could have noticed this. Do you see Rich Paul in a similar all-black attire whenever he is out in public? It’s not an obsession to wear black.

Paul treats it as his uniform. But to him, the same black sweatshirt and pants are also a way to avoid spending money on a variety of outfits.

“I wear this pretty much every. This is I actually wear this every day. Like literally the same pants and sweatshirt every day. Okay. So I’ve been on that for about six months now. I’m saving a lot of money,” he comically told Rich Eisen. Realistically, he doesn’t need to do so. It could also be a joke on his part.

But when you understand where Paul came from, it does make sense. He met LeBron James because the NBA behemoth noticed his Warren Moon jersey. They simply exchanged information after that. That was the start of their relationship and a launching pad to the success that Rich Paul would become.

With the LeBron James name attached, he did get some help. And Paul graciously offers his gratitude to his close friend for always supporting him. However, his success isn’t tied to James. Rather, it’s a product of his work ethic. The Klutch Sports CEO was persistent in making something of himself.

Ultimately, those efforts helped him create an empire.

Rich Paul didn’t rely on LeBron James

While on the Rich Eisen Show, Rich Paul discussed more than just how he saved money. Among the topics was his relationship with LeBron James. From the outside, you may think their success for simultaneous. The more James grew, so did Paul. But that’s not the case. He’s never made a great amount of money by working for his close friend.

“The most money I ever got paid while working for him was $48,000 a year. But I didn’t focus on the finance of it all. It was the opportunity. Um the future. Yeah. And I didn’t know what that opportunity was going to be per se or what the future held. I just never got complacent at the checkpoints, and I never cared to only lean on just him,” he said on the Rich Eisen Show.

By the time Rich Paul became a confidante, he was also working for another agency. But because they didn’t have a place for him, he set out to establish a pathway of his own. It’s now known as Klutch Sports, and among his first clients was LeBron James. But not only did that take nine years, James confided in Paul because he saw his passion to serve all of his clients.

“I was so motivated and so pissed off at the same time that it didn’t matter who was coming. Um I just felt like, you know, I was going to make something happen. and through my journey and him seeing me sacrifice time and missing trips and not being and really focusing and recruiting a Eric Bledsoe and recruiting a Tristan Thompson and recruiting a Cory Joseph, he’s seen that. So when I did decide to step out on my own, he knew I was serious, and so he supported that,” Paul revealed.

LeBron James became the launching pad. And Paul’s self-belief that he could create a community for athletes came to life. Klutch Sports houses over 300 athletes from across the major leagues. Within the NBA, they have 37 and counting.
