Young NFL prospect Shedeur Sanders had his day thrown off course recently due to a prank call just before the 2025 NFL Draft. To make matters worse, Amir J. Tyson, the son of legendary boxer Mike Tyson, stirred the pot further with his reaction to the call on social media. You’re probably wondering what exactly happened during the prank call and what Amir had to say about it.
You see, Sanders was waiting for a call with bated breath because of the 2025 NFL Draft with his family members at his father Deion Sanders’ home in Dallas. That’s when his phone rang out, minutes before the New Orleans Saints were about to announce their selection for the 40th pick. “This is Mickey Loomis here, (general manager) of the Saints,” the voice on the other side said.
“It’s been a long wait, man. We’re gonna take you with our next pick right here, man,” the caller added. The entire ordeal was captured on video by Well Off Media, a YouTube channel run by Deion Sanders Jr., Shedeur’s brother. “Yes sir, let’s be legendary,” Sanders responded. “But you’re gonna have to wait a little bit longer, man. Sorry about that,” the caller said before cutting the call.
This left heir to the Sanders Legacy confused because he had acquired the phone on which he received the call, a day earlier, specifically for getting calls from NFL teams for the draft. “Nobody has that number but coaches, strictly for that reason. Why get mad? They want you to have a certain type of reaction to it,” Sanders told his brother in the video.

Later, the real pick from the Saints was revealed to be Louisville quarterback Tyler Shough as the 40th pick. It’s worth noting that Shedeur Sanders was largely projected to be a first-round pick, but the reality turned out to be something else entirely. Reacting to the incident on Instagram story, Amir J Tyson wrote, “.”
However, it’s not all bad for Buffalo’s Signal-Caller.
The Cleveland Browns save Shedeur Sanders from sliding off the board
The Cleveland Browns saved Shedeur Sanders from sliding even further down the board, grabbing the Colorado quarterback with the 144th overall pick after a stunning draft fall. Once considered a first-round prospect, Sanders stayed positive throughout the long wait, saying, “All it is, is a football game to me, and that’s how I view it.”
The Browns moved up to secure Sanders, trading two picks to Seattle, with general manager Andrew Berry noting, “We didn’t necessarily expect (Sanders) to be available in the fifth round.” When the call finally came, Sanders celebrated by dancing and jumping into a swimming pool at his Texas home. “I’m just thankful for opportunity, so that’s all I can ask for,” he said.
With Deshaun Watson sidelined, Cleveland’s quarterback room is crowded, but Sanders is ready for the challenge: “I know I’m going to fit in perfect… I’m here ready to work.”
That being said, it’s unclear who the caller was or how they managed to get Sanders’ number. Regardless, Amir J Tyson seems to have gotten a good laugh from the ordeal. What do you make of the prank call? Do you think Tyson was insensitive?
