Michigan’s Top RB Target Makes Ohio State Announcement as Sherrone Moore Clears Stance on Bryce Underwood’s Future

Michigan and Sherrone Moore had a lot of struggles on the portal last year, especially after Jim Harbaugh left the building, triggering a long-standing quarterback question under the center. However, they have slowly but surely gotten back on the track and regained the momentum after a lot of back and forth. The veteran head coach has welcomed a host of new faces to Ann Arbor as the elite 2025 class and staged some strong recruiting wins in the class of 2026 as well. They recently landed three-star offensive lineman Bear McWhorter, overtaking a lot of competitors (around 40 schools) in the process. But the joy turned out to be short-lived as they are facing some dilemma over their top RB target after an upsetting intel.

Michigan extended an offer to Top 100 2026 Mineral (Va.) Louisa County running back Savion Hiter last off-season. Right after Tony Alfred took over as the new running back coach. But it seems they are losing their grip on the prized 2026 prospect, as he recently kept his Columbus visit ahead of the Ann Arbor in a packed-up Summer schedule.

The defending National Champions were already in the top four choices for the No.1 ranked RB alongside Georgia, Michigan, and Tennessee. But as his family revealed, he will be back in Columbus for the Spring practices on March 29. He plans a visit on May 30. He will visit Moore and his team sometime around June.

“It’s huge to see how they pulled through adversity to become National Champions!” Hiter said. “It’s exciting to have the opportunity to play for a championship team!” He has been fond of the team since participating in the Under Armour All-America Game in January.

“Coach Locklyn is a straight-forward guy,” Hiter said. “He doesn’t BS around anything. He doesn’t beat around the bush. He’ll tell you straight-up what you need to improve on and what you need to do. They’re also RBU. Ezekiel Elliott and TreVeyon Henderson are coming out of there now. Quinshon Judkins, too.”  It seemed Michigan had the upper hand unless and until the standout athlete made his real feelings known about the Buckeyes. He is clearly head over heels.

But for Moore, as he flipped Bryce Underwood for the year of 2026 with a hefty 10 million, he would have been a lifesaver in the running corps. It remains to be seen if Moore can solve this math with money just like he did for Underwood in the past.
