Michigan Reunion on Cards as 1466-Yard TE, Predicted as Travis Kelce’s Successor, Set to Meet Jim Harbaugh’s Chargers

It’s one aspect of the game to be talented. But it’s a different ballgame altogether to express your confidence. That’s when eyes roll. Michigan Wolverines TE Colston Loveland made eyes roll in the Combine when he openly declared he was the best route runner among all the college tight ends. The 6 feet 5 inches, 245 pounds player again made heads roll on Michigan’s Pro Day on March 21. It was the past link that some of us ignored. It’s LA Chargers HC Jim Harbaugh!

For those of you who don’t remember, after failing with the 49ers, the head coach spent 9 seasons with the Wolverines (2015 to 2023). So Loveland played two seasons under the head coach, freshman (2022) and sophomore (2023). After the Michigan Pro Day, he sent waves of surprise into the football world by claiming he was set to meet the Chargers on Tuesday, March 25.

Even in the combine a few days back, he praised Jim Harbaugh, “I haven’t met with the Chargers, which I think makes sense because they know a lot about me already. But I’ve seen Coach. It’s always good to see him. He’s a great guy.” Now that they are meeting soon, things will change for the better. Not only the reunion will ease their chemistry, but they will also benefit from his performance.

In 3 years with Michigan, Colston Loveland was impressive in 39 games. He recorded 117 rushes for 1,466 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns. Jim Harbaugh also needs his trusted players back on the field. He has seen him grow in the past 3 years. So, the base is already set. They now need to take advantage of his skills.

He has also shown an excellent physical frame. With strong shoulders and back, he can make catches with ease. His rare ability as a route runner and flexible lower half make him a specimen. Most analysts have predicted the TE to be a first-round pick. He is a lethal player, who can double up as a receiver. There are other qualities too.

Jim Harbaugh’s rivals might poach Michigan TE

The AFC West is one of the most explosive divisions in the NFL. With other contenders, Chiefs, Raiders, and Broncos, Jim Harbaugh & co. will face tough competition in the 2025 draft. Particularly, the Chiefs are heartbroken after the Super Bowl LIX loss. They want solid backups, someone Andy Reid can train to become a game-winner.

Even before the Eagles won the SB 59 in New Orleans, the Pro Football Network analyst Jacob Infante had an interesting observation. He claimed that the Chiefs would draft Colston Loveland in the first round. His role? The replacement for the TE Travis Kelce. Well, his two qualities make him stand out.

First, Jim Harbaugh’s student can cover the field and also catch the passes. This is something we have seen Kelce do regularly for the Chiefs. The second one, more interesting, is his ability to block. This is what everyone fondly remembers about the veteran TE. He has manhandled the rivals in sheer dominance. If Loveland can replicate that on Gridiron, it would be crazy.

However, there’s a solid question. Travis Kelce was set to retire after completing the 3-peat. With that dream crushed, millions saw him on the sidelines in angry, sad, and disappointed avatars. As he walked out of the stadium alone, they wanted revenge. So. here we are. QB Patrick Mahomes has announced the revenge tour. Will Jim Harbaugh and other divisional people become their first victims? Looks like that!
