The 2023 British Open was the last time Max Homa made a cut in a full-field tournament, and astonishingly, he hasn’t had a cut since then. Yes, you read that right. This drought is mirrored in his world rankings, where he’s currently sitting at 81st, far from his previous ranking as high as No. 5. His form took a nosedive despite his previous successes as a six-time PGA Tour winner. The contrast between his past achievements and current struggles is stark, leaving fans wondering when he’ll break this slump and return to form. And, well, we have some bad news.
Currently playing at the 2025 Masters, the golfer’s struggles are palpable. Per the latest tweet by The Coach, Homa’s attempts to find his footing are going to fail at Augusta National. A glaring stat highlights his decline: his last top-10 finish was last year at Augusta. “Playing with the leader so tons of people out there. And has no clue where his ball is going. Glaring stat his last top 10 was last year right here at Augusta. And for a guy who climbed to top 10 in the world, it must feel like he is completely lost”, read the tweet. To add to that, his viral moment at the Masters on Thursday wasn’t exactly what he hoped for, and playing with the leader meant all eyes were on him. So, what happened during round one?
At round one of the Masters, Max Homa’s struggles continued, and it was a perfect example of his current plight. On the 8th hole, Yellow Jasmine, disaster struck when his ball ricocheted off a tree and hit a fairway marshal, prompting Homa’s exasperated reaction, “Come on, dude.” The marshal, dressed in traditional all-white, was directing traffic when the ball bounced off his backside, sending it careening left instead of forward.
Masters update: it’s tough to watch a player climb the mountain and then fall to the depths again. Max Homa is lost. Had a viral moment on Thursday that wasn’t a good one. Playing with the leader so tons of people out there. And has no clue where is ball is going. Glaring stat…

Homa’s frustration was palpable, especially given his recent slump, which includes missing five straight cuts and parting ways with his longtime caddie, Joe Greiner. Despite his efforts to regroup and find a new rhythm, Homa’s round one ended with a two-over 74. Patrons are evidently not happy with the golfer and are taking it to X to express their frustration.
Max Homa is being ripped apart in the comments
Starting off strong with what one fan said, “The Max Homa Shank show, live now on Featured Groups”, while the other wrote, “I’m afraid Max Homa is broken.” One fan wrote something that every fan can relate to, as they wrote, “Starting to feel very bad for Max Homa. His game is in shambles.” Well, whatever patrons might think, Max Homa certainly believes in himself. Despite his recent struggles, Homa remains confident, saying he has to remind himself, “You’re closer than you think.” He had a strong showing at the Masters last year, finishing in a tie for third, but since then, his results have stagnated, even as he’s changed his caddie.
One fan wrote, “The fact I’m forced to watch JJ Spaun and Max Homa at the Masters is an utter joke”, while the other said, “Max Homa needs to WD.” Well, if his bad form continues, Homa might withdraw from the Masters, as he has a history of withdrawing mid-tournament, with his latest being at the 2024 Farmers Insurance Open. Homa withdrew during the first round, with three holes to play due to heavy winds and his own struggles, standing at nine over par for the tournament. His round hadn’t gone well, with a triple bogey on the first hole and multiple bogeys, resulting in a 77 – his second-worst score in 25 rounds.
Well, as if his bad performance in the first round wasn’t enough, the worst has happened for Max Homa in Round 2 of the Masters. On hole 13, disaster struck when he hit his ball into a hidden root in the pine straw, forcing him to punch out. The concern now is whether he’s suffered a serious injury, as he was holding his back pretty tightly. “f******k that sucks for Max homa”, said one fan, while the other said, “Max Homa gonna fake an injury now because he’s embarrassed how much he sucks at golf.” And well, ouch!
But what do you think? Is the injury going to lead to an early withdrawal of Max Homa? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below!
