Nico Harrison has been public enemy number one at Dallas ever since the Trade. Who’d have thought trading a 26-year-old generational talent for an injury-prone, albeit extremely skilled 31-year-old, would backfire?
Nonetheless, fans have been at Nico’s throat ever since. And he’s also responded in kind by having some protesting fans ejected. But things may have gone a little too far this time.
You see, the “Fire Nico” movement among the Dallas Mavericks fans has caught on like wildfire. The Mavs have banned fans from carrying signs with that phrase into the American Airlines Centre.
But fans have found new ways to get their point across. And recently, one fan chose to keep screaming “Fire Nico”, capturing the whole thing on his phone as the Mavs GM interacted with some others near the dugout before heading back in.

It seems this fan, named Chris Taylor, was approached by some furious arena officials. Then it seems a man, who Taylor believes is associated with the arena, got physical with him. This man allegedly took Chris’ phone away from him and threw it hard onto the ground. Only a brand new case prevented Taylor’s phone from being smashed.
Taylor then revealed that the Mavericks staffers did nothing to help him after he reported this incident to them. He believes this is because they were in on this following Taylor’s interaction with Nico Harrison. But not one to take this lying down, Chris Taylor plans to find justice by going to the authorities.
Chris Taylor plans to go to the police after the Nico Harrison incident
The anti-Nico Harrison sentiment growing in Dallas may be a bit extreme. But the destruction of a fan’s property is not a good look for the Mavericks. Neither is them allegedly doing anything about it despite him reporting it. And this is why Chris Taylor believes he was the victim of a crime following the entire ordeal.
“I feel like a crime was committed, and I feel like [the Mavericks] not doing anything is part of it,” said Taylor. “I feel like I’d be an idiot to not file a police report after what happened to me last night,” he finished telling TMZ. And if what he told them is accurate, then he has every right to press charges against that man, regardless of his affiliation with the Dallas Mavericks.
After all, fans complaining about the moves made by a team’s front office is nothing new. After all, before the Luka trade, Rob Pelinka found himself being disliked by fans because he didn’t make any trades to reinforce the squad around LeBron James and Anthony Davis. So the same thing happening to Nico Harrison after trading away Luka Doncic is not a surprise. Even if it’s a more extreme example of the same thing.
Nevertheless, when things go this far, something needs to change. So what do you think might happen? Will the authorities getting involved cause Nico to step down as Mavs GM? Or will this soon blow over? Let us know!
