Marlins Ownership Mocked Over $85 “Tower of Desperation” in Sad Attempt to Fill Empty Seats

4 min read

Didn’t you also think that in a sophisticated sport like baseball, things can never go weird? Turns out, it can. Just when a team realizes that the season hasn’t been kind to them, they would likely go to any length to tip the scales in their favor. Well, we don’t think you’re even ready to see what the Miami Marlins have for you this time. A hint? It’s juicy and salty and definitely tempt you if you’re hungry.

Could the baseball teams this season be any more innovative with hospitality? The Miami marlins have just raised the bar of their food game this season. It’s their ultimate hot dog tower. It includes 4 hot dogs, 4 Polish sausages, 4 corn dogs, and a huge portion of loaded salchipapas. It’ll be served with the sides of ketchup, mustard, relish, sauerkraut, and sweet onions.

The Marlins have an actual tower of hot dogs at home games this year

This culinary experience will be served by Levy Restaurants. With this ‘hot dog tower’ the marlins simply intend to enhance the fan experience at their home games. This tower, priced at $85, has invited mixed reactions from fans. Some have downright mocked them over the tower and have labeled it as an attempt to fill empty seats. Meanwhile, others have appreciated the marlins for their creativity.

The mockery was sparked during the recent matchup of the Miami marlins against the Arizona diamondbacks. As it came to light that at LoanDepot Park, only 7,324 seats were filled out of 37,000. As a result, fans see this ‘hot dog tower’ as a ‘tower of desperation’ to fill the empty seats.

It’s not the first time when the MLB teams have been innovative with their concessions. In fact, this season the Toronto blue jays have come up with cotton candy fries. On the other hand, the San Diego padres will have banana bread pudding at their game.

The list will go on, but the real question here is: have the Marlins really gone over the board just to increase their attendees?

Fans roast Marlins over $85 ‘Hot Dog Tower’

The Miami Marlins‘ $85 ‘hot dog tower’ has gained significant attention, but not for the right reasons. What was meant to enhance the fan experience has quickly turned into a subject of mockery. All the critiques gathered on X and didn’t leave any crumbs to mock the entire Marlins ownership. They humorously pointed out Marlis’ intention with this culinary experience:

“I’m sure all 36 people attending the marlins games will love this”

Yes, the attendance at the last matchup against the Arizona Diamondbacks was painfully low but this was a bit too harsh. Similarly, another fan took a shot at the low audience aspect and implied that this tower can potentially feed everybody present at LoanDepot Park:

“This could feed every fan in attendance”

The tower is humongous, sure, but every fan in attendance? Clearly, the critics couldn’t hold back the mockery this time. Some were downright disappointed with both the Marlins’ style of play and their ‘hot dog tower’:

“They lose even in the food. Disgusting.”

The fan here is implying the poor decision-making of the Marlins ownership in terms of internal roster decisions and food alike. Meanwhile, others took a brutal shot against the Marlins in the most subtle way possible:

“But they don’t have any fans… :(“

The fan here tried to pull the irony of the fact that the marlins have created a grand, visually tempting hot dog tower with barely any fans to eat it. Some were brutally honest about it:

“More hotdogs than people in the ballpark”

The Marlins’ crowd-pleasing concession took a sharp turn to brutal reactions in no time. A hot dog tower that was initially meant to bring an excellent culinary experience to the ballpark has ended up inviting pure mockery instead of ticket sales. It’s high time for the miami marlins to turn the tables and shut up the critics with a stronger-than-ever comeback.
