Woah, Creighton, we did not see you coming! The Bluejays caused a shocking upset in the first round of the NCAA Tournament against Louisville. All the questions about the Cardinals seeding versus the Bluejays were answered, and it wasn’t in Pat Kelsey’s favor. Greg McDermott’s team pulled off a dominating 89-75 victory, with a massive game from Jamiya Neal.
However, everything was not going well at Rupp Arena. The stadium, notoriously difficult to play in, showed its true colors as the Bluejays blew out Louisville. Pat Kelsey was called for a technical foul with just 4:40 left in the game, and some fans weren’t having it at all! Someone from behind the Creighton bench threw a full water bottle onto the court, causing a delay in play.
The cleanup crew was quick to respond, but even Bluejays head coach Greg McDermott lent a hand in the process. The commentators, Brian Anderson and Jim Jackson, did not hold back against the action.”That was a full bottle of water. That was very dangerous. Right over the Creighton bench. I tell you, whoever did that, should never be allowed to come into this arena again.” This delay was a reminder of how crazy March Madness actually gets!
