“Love ya To Life”: Deion Sanders Triggered by Raw Emotions After Days of Criticism Around Shedeur Bites Dust

4 min read

Shedeur Sanders’ draft saga is one for the history books. The former Colorado QB slipped from the first round of the draft to the next, and onwards. The worrying downward spiral finally came to a rest at the tail end of the draft. Picture this: Sanders went from being rumored as the No. 3 pick, and then ended up being picked as No. 144 by Cleveland. Despite people saying the whole turn of events has ‘humbled’ him, the hate continues to come. Amidst all of this, dad Deion Sanders was the pillar of support for his son, while the tirade against him continued.

The Sanders family huddled up in Texas, far away from Green Bay. They were all watching it live. Day 1 flew by, but Roger Goodell didn’t take Shedeur’s name. “Tomorrow’s the day,” Sanders told the press afterwards. Except, it wasn’t. Sanders slipped past Day 2 as well, and that’s when things in the camp descended into an unsettling calm. In a clip from their vlogs, we see a relatively quiet Deion with his sons, who are helping to keep his spirits up. Coach Prime turned to his faith for solace, as Shilo joked, “This ain’t God… this the Devil.”

Many of Sanders’ haters are largely unhappy because of his celebrity status. They thought Sanders to be undeserving of the hype around him and that the downturn was necessary. Shedeur can’t help some parts of it, but the attitude can afford some mending. Yet, the whole wave of uncalled-for attacks was overwhelming. Author and talk show host Tamron Hall took to Instagram and shared how crucial it was for Deion Sanders to be there for Shedeur during such a time.

“If there’s a child in your life, pour as much confidence as possible in them. If they’re good, tell them that they’re great. If they’re great, this is how you can be greater. If you pour confidence into them. When these nefarious forces, whether it’s an individual or an organization, tries to tell them that they’re not good, great, hardworking, they don’t hear that,” Hall noted of the whole Sanders draft drama. She also highlighted that this won’t be possible with just a one-off conversation. “It’s a drumbeat. And I think that’s what Deion Sanders has done,” she said. Replying to her show of support, Coach Prime wrote, “Love ya 2 Life.”

Sanders, the ever-faithful devout that he is, was grateful for Shedeur finally making it to an NFL team. He unfortunately couldn’t be with Shedeur when the moment they were waiting so desperately for finally happened. But, he took to X and wrote, “God is good!” The past weekend was a crucial learning trajectory for the whole family. Shedeur, in particular, still showed that he can rise above his negative image during challenging times.

The hate against Shedeur Sanders was unprecedented this time

Sanders reportedly “sandbagged” interviews with NFL teams. “I don’t know if he didn’t take them seriously, what it was, but he did not give it his all,” said insider Jonathan Jones. On the day before the draft. An anonymous NFL coach ripped into Shedeur, calling him “entitled” and saying, “He’s not that good.” And since then, the community knew that Shedeur wasn’t making it as a top pick at least.

But no one expected him to fall so deep in the draft. It had reached a point where there were slight fears that the QB might go undrafted. Even Patrick Mahomes expressed his shock at how far Shedeur went before being drafted. That’s what spiked the hate further, who were simply taking a jibe at his tragedy. But, Shedeur never once broke calm.

It wasn’t easy for the QB to hold onto hope after teams kept passing him on. He still found it in him to share a laugh with Shilo, who thought their father was no use as their agent. A brutal prank call from Jax Ulbrich also added some more pain to his already tested state of mind. And yet, the moral of the story is that he persevered.

Of course, we can hope to see his attitude being toned down a bit, because this is an opportunity that Shedeur will forever be grateful for. Much to his haters’ dismay, his family, especially Coach Prime, will always act like a safety net whenever time calls.
