It was another hammering for the Chicago Sky. The side lost its third straight game with -73 overall now in the WNBA 2025 season. If there’s one thing the team could smile about, it would be yet another double-double their star player put up after a disastrous run against the defending champions. “It’s not going to be often that we have a ton of misses like this,” the HC had said, and Angel Reese lived up to it. But even then, it wasn’t all a smooth run for the Chi-Town Barbie.
It hasn’t exactly been the best start to the season for the Sky forward. Starting off with a scuffle against Caitlin Clark, she failed to score from an open play against the New York Liberty. And even before she had dusted it all off, Kelsey Plum rubbed salt on the wound with the ‘too small’ gesture. The NBA stars’ go-to celebration after scoring over their towering opponents has found its way to the W.
Plum, in a great scoring run at the moment with the Sparks, drove from the left and brushed aside Agel Reese’s blocking effort to tie the game at 5-5 in the first quarter. As she finished the easy layup, she crouched down and lowered her hand to symbolize that Reese was too small to guard her.

The former Aces’ guard finished with 28 points and 8 assists. And it was no less of an effort from the team, either.
It was pure dominance by the Sparks side, who never trailed in the game from 2 minutes left in the first quarter. Plum once again was the driving force, and the Sparks fed off her energy. Forward Azura Stevens added 24 points along with eight boards, while Dearica Hamby added a near double-double line with 10 points and eight assists.
As for the Sky, Reese led the Sky with 13 points and 12 rebounds on 45 per cent shooting, but was held in check most of the night. The first half ‘humiliation’ by Plum looked more brutal after Reese was unable to respond with heavy numbers or energize her side. Here is how fans took the Plum’s actions….
Fans react to Kelsey Plum’s ‘too small’ gesture on Angel Reese
From Atlanta Braves’ Ronald Acuña Jr. to Minnesota Vikings’ Justin Jefferson, ‘too small’ is now a celebration widely embraced. Patrick Beverley may call it just something to have fun all he wants, but you know that’s one telling gesture. Jefferson was fined for unsportsmen-like conduct, too. So when Plum hit it in W, the spectators had a field day. “Too small on Reese wowwwwwwwww,” one fan exclaimed. But more than Reese being on the receiving end of it, for a few, it was about Plum finding her footing.
“Kelsey getting comfortable” another lauded. Kelsey left her home of 7 seasons and a core-qualifying contract to find her ground in LA, and needless to say, she is thriving. After a record-breaking 37-point performance in the season opener, Plum followed up with 2 20-point performances, and 2 more of no less than 15. If that wasn’t indication enough, her gesture sure showed the 2x champion was settling in well.
Reese, on the other hand, in her second season with the Sky, is struggling to score over 13 points in a game. After going scoreless, save for 2 points off free throws in the previous game, this reaction did not help the Chi-Town Barbie’s case. “Diabolic,” one added. What really got them to say? Well, the ‘too small’ gesture isn’t something new to Reese. Only, she wasn’t on the receiving end previously.
The Sky forward has used the celebration one too many times during her collegiate run. A few evidently in the win over Virginia Tech in 2023. So when Plum hit that back, fans couldn’t help but think back. “Oh No She Didn’t!!! She Clownin Reese!!!” a comment read.
Kelsey Plum may be 5’8″ to Angel Reese’s 6’3″, but the star guard showed she is not here to back down. Coach Lynne Roberts trusted her to build the winning culture when they signed Plum, and safe to say, she is doing exactly that, and fans couldn’t be more proud. “Plum really said “I got that dawg in me too. Love seeing her match that energy right back,” one added.
Reese will look to shut criticisms with a solid outing next games. With just three games completed in the ongoing season, the 2024 All-Star will have time to adjust to new game plans to make an impact. Plum is already doing her part. It is for the Chi-Town Barbie to step up next.
