Lebron’s Closer Redeems Lakers For Magic Johnson After Issuing Stern Demand

3 min read

The Los Angeles Lakers have found their much-needed win after three consecutive losses. With the playoffs approaching, it’s no secret that every single win counts. No wonder LeBron James didn’t give up even in the last minutes of the recent matchup against the Indiana Pacers, sinking in an iconic buzzer-beater. Following the hard-fought victory, former Lakers star Magic Johnson could not help but take to X to open up on the Lakers’ win.

Even before the game began, Magic Johnson made it clear that it’s the defense that he wants to see from the Lakers. However, in the game’s final moments, it was pure offense that won the Lakers the game. But Magic doesn’t seem to mind as he realises the importance of this win.

“What a thrilling finish with LeBron James’ putback! It sealed a much-needed victory for the Lakers against the Pacers,” Johnson wrote in a more recent post on X.

For those who missed it, the Lakers gave up 119 points throughout the game. But they got the crucial stop when it mattered most, securing the ball with seconds remaining. With the game on the line, Luka Doncic attempted a floater that rolled off the rim, where 40-year-old LeBron James was waiting to tip it in just before the buzzer sounded, giving the Lakers a 120-119 victory.

Furthermore, the final minutes of this game were important for LeBron James, too. The 4x NBA champ had entered the fourth quarter with no field goals and just three points, putting his streak of scoring 10-plus points in jeopardy. A streak that had spanned 1,282 games entering the night.

However, after a stellar fourth quarter, James surpassed 10 points to extend the streak. Thus finishing the game with 13 points, 13 rebounds, and seven assists.

The Lakers now prepare for the second night of a back-to-back on Thursday when they head to Chicago to face a red-hot Bulls team that defeated the Lakers by double digits less than a week ago. Now, considering their borderline win against the Pacers, things might not be as easy as one might think. Yes, Magic Johnson is quite happy about the win, but one may wonder if the team paid any heed to his strong demand ahead of the matchup against Indiana.

This is a developing story…
