“WELCOME BACK TRAYVON!!!!!!!!!!” This is not just a tweet from a prominent track and field personality, but the emotion of track and field community upon the comeback of Trayvon Bromell. It had been a while since we saw the American track and field athlete win against a field of elites in a big league. Don’t get me wrong, Bromell has been outpacing a lot of talent in invitations, but somehow they don’t bring the name and fame that comes with outpacing a field of elites, such as Yohan Blake and Aaron Brown, with a Diamond League stamp next to it, like that of the 2022 Diamond League final in Zürich, where he was the only one in the race to clock a sub-10 (9.94). Like that of his Diamond League comeback at Rome in 2025. Outpacing a field of Fred Kerley, Emmanuel Eseme. He broke through the records, clocking a time of 9.84 seconds – the new 100-meter world lead. What does he say after the race?
In the post-race interview, he confessed, “Oh, it’s a blessing. You know, come out here and put God first and go out there and execute a race. It was a great feel. I did have some concerns about just my health and what it was gonna be like coming back overseas. Obviously, I’ve been away for a while now, and being able to compete at a high level, probably since 2022. So it was definitely a lot of jitters.” Zurich was the last time Bromell ran in the Diamond League. In 2023, he did run in the USA championships, but that didn’t go so well for him. In three hundred-meter races, he finished 2nd,6th and 3rd.
Speaking further it, the 29-year-old said, “I’m not gonna sit here and act like nerves wasn’t there. I was definitely nervous because I didn’t know what to expect. You know, I, you know, we ran the 9.91, but you know, everybody’s gonna have their speculations about it being in the United States. You know, can you do it overseas? Can you do it when the pressure’s on? And that was the one thing that was running through my mind.” At the Pure Athletics Global Invitational in Clermont, Florida, he ran a wind-legal 9.91 seconds in the 100m. This was also his first overseas race in about a year. The last one was also Italy, in the 13th Savona International Meeting, Centro Sportivo Fontanassa, Savona, where he clocked 10.34s for 3rd place.
“I’m not gonna sit here and lie.I just wanted to go and be the person that I know I am, especially when it comes to my training. I work hard, so I don’t expect anything but fast times and execution,” he concluded. Trayvon Bromell might not have raced in big-name competitions, but he has been pretty fast before the Golden Gala as well. He started his season with a 6.62-second victory in the 60m at the Texas Tech Corky Classic. At the Millrose Games, he improved his performance, clocking 6.59 seconds to secure a silver medal.

Meanwhile, Trayvon Bromell is not only special because that marked his comeback to the Diamond League and elite racing. But also because his timings challenged those of Kenny Bednarek and Akani Simbine, the 2025 track and field sensation, who are yet to be defeated in the 100 meters for this season.

Donning a new balance sprint suit, Trayvon Bromell took to lane number 4 at Stadio Olimpico, Roma. The gunshot crackled through the silence and they jolted. The commentator’s pitch kept getting higher as he said, “Kerley, in the white, in the black rather has got some running to do but Trayvon Bromell is running away with this one at the moment, good running on the inside from Assembly but Trayvon Bromell stalling this one and destroying that field.” At one point Bromell had a very ,such clear lead as if he is the race of his own.
