Lane Kiffin Shares ‘Healing’ Message for Daughter Landry After Reminiscing With Reunited Wife Layla

5 min read

Dads are daughters’ first hero, and they try to protect their princesses from every way possible. Ole Miss Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin is lucky to have two princesses, Landry and Presley. Now that his daughters are adults, Kiffin just can’t run after them, scouting every decision his daughters make. Plus, he has to run a whole college football program. So, occasionally, he drops some messages on social media that he thinks resonate most with himself and his daughters. Like he did with his firstborn, Landry. Earlier, Presley had got some Instagram life lesson sessions from dad Kiffin. What was the topic? Relationships and their bitter side effects. Now that Kiffin himself got a second chance in love, he relives the old moments with his wife, Layla

While Kiffin’s son Knox has followed in his dad’s footsteps and has already become a football sensation in high school, his daughter Presley has also taken up sports. No, not football, Kiffin’s younger daughter plays for the USC Trojans volleyball team. Out of the three siblings, Landry has decided to carve out a future for herself, miles away from sports. The 20-year-old daughter of Kiffin has been pursuing her degree and studying real estate. But at the same time, she has hit a new milestone. Landry recently became a Pilates instructor at the Mississippi-based studio Power Movement. Maybe that’s Kiffin’s daughter’s way of prioritizing mental and physical health and wellness. This definitely might have made the Ole Miss head coach’s chest swell with pride, that Landry is finally prioritizing herself and is taking babysteps towards healing.

On May 28, Kiffin dropped his daily dose of motivation on ‘gram for his princess, who is still a child with a tender heart for him. In the IG story, he shared a quote from someone named Meaghan Williamson. The quote read, “My daughter doesn’t know this but Every day we are together she heals something she didn’t break.” This was subtly hinted at by how the love chapter has been too tough to handle for Landry. Kiffin’s elder daughter endured a messy breakup with the former Ole Miss quarterback Walker Howard. Now that she is on the healing journey, hitting small milestones herself, Kiffin would not want her heart to go unprotected this time. Not just Landry, even her sister, Presley, was given a sweet reminder.

On February 10, he reshared a clip from the Landman series featuring the great Billy Bob Thornton. The video featured the character Lt. Tommy Norris, who was having a heart-to-heart conversation with his daughter, Ainsley. It had this one famous lesson on love life, “Honey, every romantic relationship you’ll ever have will be a failure, except the last one. Do you think this is the last relationship you’re ever gonna have?” Kiffin might have seen himself in Norris’ place, as the caption read, “Explaining to my teenage daughter that her first boyfriend will not be her last.” While Kiffin is obsessed with her daughters not suffering about matters of the heart, he and his wife, Layla, gave love a second chance. And their love life is going on turbo mode.

Lane Kiffin takes down memory lane ride to his golden days with reunited wife Layla

Kiffin and Layla were married for 12 years. They had a romance straight out of a romantic novel. Being former NFL quarterback John Reaves’ daughter, Layla had picked up an interest in football quite early. She later landed a job with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. At that time, Kiffin’s dad, Monte Kiffin, was the Bucs’ defensive coordinator. It was the universe’s sweet way of making Kiffin and Layla meet. The couple dated shortly after meeting in 1999 and finally exchanged ‘I do’ vows in 2004. Things were picture perfect. Post which the couple hit a rough patch, calling it quits with a divorce on February 28, 2016.

But over the last couple of months, the couple was spotted together. Either chilling together at Landry’s 20th birthday bash, or Kiffin flexing the love of her life as she checked out their “home” at Ole Miss. Finally, it was confirmed that the two are back together as the Ole Miss head coach posted a picture from one of their recent concert dates. It captured Kiffin doing the heart hands and Layla playfully crossing her fingers in the background. A ring was spotted in Layla’s fingers, and Kiffin’s three-word caption said it all: “Ride or die .” Now, when Kiffin is not headcoaching, his heart inches to take a trip down memory lane.

During the May 21 weekend, he shared a couple of throwback pictures, reminiscing over the time his late father was in charge of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ defense. The snapshots took us back to Lane and Layla’s golden days of youth, while Landry was still a toddler. The first picture itself had the couple holding their daughter. Golden times indeed. They are indeed lucky to create some more happy memories for the family that will warm hearts for years to come.
