December 17, 2024, was the darkest day in Kyren Lacy‘s life. After that day, the 24-year-old was charged for a hit-and-run case. He got into an accident in Louisiana on December 17 last year, which took the life of a 78-year-old Herman Hall. He faced charges, and the lawsuit was ongoing until April 12, 2024, when Kyren Lacy took his life.
On April 12, Lacy’s family informed police that the 24-year-old had discharged a firearm during a domestic incident. But before police came to the house, Lacy fled in his vehicle. During the police chase, Lacy crashed his car and reportedly shot himself dead before police could arrest him. Kyren, a 2025 NFL draft prospect, was going through a lot of pressure because of that hit-and-run case from December last year.
Many speculate that pressure led the future NFL star to take his life. After the heartbreaking incident, the whole NFL world reacted to it with heartfelt messages. But among all the messages, the former NFL star Emmanuel Acho‘s message was unique. He posted the message on his Instagram stories. “If you know someone that’s going through something, bother them. Check in on them so much that you bother them. It will be worth it.” The overlay text of the story says this.
While talking to his NFL friends, Acho also said, “We have to be more intangible about bothering people. Bother people that are going through things.” But along with that, he also added important points about how to ‘bother’ or approach people around you who are going through something. Acho said that ‘bothering’ does not mean just shooting text like ‘Hey, how are you?’. But to actually meet the people you know, you love. And actually that is how we can bring people out of depression or if they have any domestic problem. According to science, if a person tells someone about their problem, it makes them feel they have solved it to some extent. That’s human nature.
Since the Industrial Revolution, mobile phones and entertainment devices have surrounded us. We generally don’t share our problems with anyone and end up getting depressed with that feeling. We mostly prefer IG Reels or TikTok videos to pass the time. But make no mistake about the mental pressure, it will hit you again when you put your phone down or close the social media app. To break that vicious cycle, Emmanuel Acho says, if you observe someone who looks like they’re going through some anxiety, emotional pain, or legal suffering, bother them.
Acho felt shocked after that incident. And to avoid such things in the future, he advised the above thing. Along with Emmanuel Acho, former LSU alum Malik Nabers was devastated to hear the news of Kyren Lacy’s passing.
Malic Nabers couldn’t hold back tears after Kyren Lacy’s passing
Per the Harris County sheriff’s report, Lacy took his life in an apparent suicide. After hearing this news, former LSU star and Kyren Lacy’s teammate, Malik Nabers, was broken. He posted a long message on social media as he couldn’t hold in his feelings after his former teammate’s tragic demise. The New York Giants wide receiver wrote, “Pain. Numb. Sad. Sorrowful. Downcast. Hurt. Broken. Devastated. Empty. Miserable . So this how it feels huh!! To lose a part of yo heart.” This was the exact message he posted on social media hours after Lacy allegedly took his own life.

Nabers played for the LSU Tigers from 2021 to 2023. And while the Giants star was there, Kyren Lacy and he became bros for the last two years of Nabers at LSU. Who knows if Kyren would have ended up getting picked up by the New York Giants? Imagine But God had other plans for Kyren Lacy. May his soul rest in peace.
