The NFL draft every year comes with hopes and a promise of dreams being fulfilled. Hundreds of players turned their fortunes by hoping to play in the NFL, and this year was no stranger to that. However, Cam Skettebo’s story is something nothing short of a hero’s tale. Rarely does a single game define the player, and very rarely do players make their mark in a single game. But when that game is the playoff quarterfinal, then the stakes become very high and every performance counts. Cam Skattebo that day not only pulled off one of the finest performances of his career but did it quite stylishly.
The Longhorns were always slated to win against ASU, which was considered largely an underdog. But, when the game started, no one had expected that it will go to multiple overtimes and become one of the finest football games in memorable history. Skattebo ran for 143 yards, scoring 2 touchdowns, and was a cause for worry for the Longhorns’ fans till the last minute. The game ended 39-31 after overtime, but Skattebo’s performances weren’t unnoticed. The player was given the game MVP award and made many NFL scouts notice.
After the season ended, Skattebo’s performances both as a receiver and rusher were touted to be a dual package for NFL teams. He notched up 1,711 rushing yards and a whopping 605 receiving yards in the 2024 season. In the mock drafts, the running back was touted to be a very underrated candidate, and it’s a pity it took 4 rounds for his name to be taken. But, it eventually came, and now the player is finally joining the New York Giants, going at the 105th spot. His ASU head coach, Kenny Dillingham, shared a heartfelt message.
Man so proud of this guy words can’t describe it! https://t.co/RraEXERgW7
