Karl Anthony-Towns Speaks On “Losing A Parent” As Severe Draymond Green Scrutiny Threatens TNT Job

5 min read

The Warriors veteran Draymond Green has found himself to be the talk of the talk town again, but this time it is not something good to cherish. Green faced heavy backlash after making an irresponsible statement. And what might seem fine to him, many felt the four-time NBA champion might just have crossed a line last week on his podcast. But what did he say? He accused Knicks big man Karl-Anthony Towns of ducking the Knicks vs Warriors matchup, due to fear of facing his former Minnesota teammate, Jimmy Butler. But was Green aware of Karl Anthony-Towns’ situation before commenting?

Probably not. Then the 35-year-old was informed of the real reason by a reporter, who asked Green if he was aware of the situation. Green then said “No“. And guess what Green came across? The reporter revealed that KAT was attending a funeral for a family friend. Yes, Towns was listed out from Tuesday’s game due to personal reasons and was grieving the loss of his girlfriend, Jordyn Woods’ close friend Sarah Holtzman. The big man prioritized being with his family at his unfortunate time, and rightly so. Upon knowing this news from a reporter, Green did offer his condolences to the Knicks star. But did he take back his words? No, he didn’t apologize for his previous baseless remarks! But did Karl shot back?

Karl-Anthony Towns took a more classy approach to the situation. “I choose to approach that with love and not hate. That’s all I really care about,Towns said while speaking with New York Post’s Stefan Bondy. “I hope no one has to go through what I went through and those kids — and what those kids had to go through. Losing a parent is tough.” KAT reflected on the difficulties Sarah’s family is facing, especially her twin sons, who just lost their mother. KAT has a soft spot for her sons, as the Knicks star himself has been in a very similar situation during the COVID-19 pandemic.

He lost several of his people close to him, most importantly his mother, who unfortunately succumbed to the disease. Karl-Anthony Towns displayed his maturity and handled the situation pretty well. He chose not to engage in a senseless verbal battle with Draymond Green. Hopefully, this is the end of this story between the two stars.

Keeping that in mind, Green will have another chance to make a genuine apology (only if he wishes to) when the New York Knicks travel to the Bay Area to face the Warriors on Saturday. However, while an apology might fix the bad blood between Green and Towns, the Dubs veteran’s days in broadcasting might be limited after this incident. Or is it too soon to conclude?

Trouble looms over Draymond Green’s future at ‘TNT’ after his baseless remarks on Karl-Anthony Towns

Draymond Green has been a controversial figure in the league for as long as anyone can remember. The veteran has been suspended several times due to his habit of committing unnecessary fouls and dirty plays on the court. Everyone is aware of the infamous Jusuf Nurkic incident, and to top it all off, he has even fought with his teammates.

However, what he recently said about Karl-Anthony Towns might just have been the start of his downfall in the broadcasting space. The Warriors star has previously worked with TNT on many occasions and becoming an analyst after he’s done with hooping might have been on the cards, but not anymore.

Well, the situation wouldn’t have been raised if Green had done his research before speaking about KAT. However, let’s assume it might have been an honest mistake for a minute. Then, with the situation explained to him, he has the chance to formally apologize and probably end the storyline. But what did Green say? He gave his half-hearted condolences, accompanied by an outrageous statement. “The Draymond Green Show with Baron Davis must go on.” It just goes to show the lack of empathy on Green’s behalf. It’s one thing to have bold takes and unpopular opinions, but this is just not acceptable.

But does TNT align with it? Well, there’s no official word, but it can be assumed they do not wish to get into sensitive matters. Moreover, this isn’t the first time Green has been under scrutiny. Recently, he was deemed “unprofessional” by Nick Wright during the All-Star weekend. After he remarked on the Rising Stars team appearing in the coveted All-Star tournament.

Whatever future endeavors Draymond Green has in the broadcasting space now look glim. With all these controversies around him, it’s hard to see any networks banking on him. So, this might just have been the last straw for Green’s journey in reporting.
