Kaan Ofli Tattoo: What Is the Meaning Behind UFC Star’s Inks

4 min read

Many mixed martial artists love to tattoo their monikers onto their bodies. While some fighters like their tattoos to be subtle, others flaunt their nicknames with the words spelled out on their bodies. However, Kaan Ofli took that to the next level and tattooed the image of the man whose existence got Ofli his nickname. And that successfully strikes fear in his opponents’ hearts.

So what exactly is on Ofli’s body ink? If you’re wondering the same, come join us as we find out everything there is to know about the featherweight contender’s body inks.

What has Kaan Ofli inked on his body?

Ofli has three visible inks on his body, and they highlight the muscles on his arms. The tattoo on his left forearm seemed like a scripture of some kind. Unfortunately, the Australian featherweight contender hasn’t really revealed anything about this stylized script. However, the script is indeed something that the 31-year-old mixed martial artist held close to his heart.

However, it’s his right arm that has garnered the highest magnitude of attention from the internet community. And it resonates with his moniker. Yes indeed! Ofli’s right arm is painted with a tattoo of Genghis Khan. Khan, in the tattoo, is clad in armor and is carrying his bow on his back, and seems ready for some action. No doubt, the Genghis Khan tattoo is arguably designed to strike fear in his opponent’s heart.

The third tattoo is that of a sword and is inked on the inner side of his right arm. The sword looked like the Mongolian single-edged saber with a tilted hilt. Being an orthodox fighter, Ofli has most of his power stored in his right arm. And the sword, coupled with Genghis Khan, shows the kind of strength his right fist has. Well, maybe that’s the reason his punches often look pretty neat.

But why is Ofli so inspired by the medieval Mongolian ruler? Is there a deeper meaning to the featherweight contender’s nickname? Let’s avert our attention from the tattoos for now and focus a bit on Ofli’s moniker.

Why is Kaan Ofli called ‘Genghis’?

Well, the 31-year-old hasn’t really talked about why he’s called ‘Genghis’. But the fighting community has assumed that it’s all because of how his name ‘Kaan’ sounds. And ‘Genghis’ is the perfect nickname to go on before the Turkish-Australian fighter’s first name. After all, just like the Mongolian conqueror, Ofli desires to leave his own mark in the realm of mixed martial arts.

During a conversation with Fox Sports, ‘Genghis’ confessed, “We were homeless, and I needed to provide for her and my sister, so spent four years working as a brickie’s laborer. At one point we went and saw a social worker, asking for help … I don’t think she believed the story so mum took her outside to show how the three of us were sleeping in a car.” And that was motivation enough to go on and build a professional MMA record of 11-3-1.

Now, ‘Genghis’ is all set to land against Muhammad Naimov at UFC Saudi Arabia. Needless to say, this is the perfect chance for the Australian featherweight contender to redeem himself from his last KO defeat in August 2024. But we’ll see what happens to the matchup between Ofli and Naimov in the evening, and it won’t be anything less than exciting.
