Joe Rogan in Ecstasy Over Dana White’s Decision for UFC 314 Card in Miami

5 min read

What do you get when you put Alexander Volkanovski vs. Diego Lopes, Michael Chandler vs. Paddy Pimblett, and Jean Silva vs. Bryce Mitchell on the same PPV card? Answer: a very ecstatic Joe Rogan! On the latest installment of his podcast, the longtime UFC color commentator could not contain his excitement for the upcoming UFC 314 PPV.

UFC 314 has all the makings of one of the hottest combat sports events of the year. When it all goes down inside the iconic Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida, the energy will be undeniable. While conversing with Gordon Ryan, Brendan Schaub, and Eddie Bravo on the JRE Fight Companion for UFC London, Joe Rogan expressed his excitement for UFC 314 when Schaub brought up the Miami card, saying, “Nothing tastier than the Miami card.” Rogan enthusiastically responded, “Ooh, that Miami card is good.”

Joe Rogan further emphasized that he is excited about the Silva-Mitchell fight, as well as the bout between Patricio Pitbull and Yair Rodriguez. With potential showdowns promising blood, sweat, and pure combat chaos, Rogan is enthusiastic about the fight card much more than any other fight this year. Who wouldn’t be? After all, Alexander Volkanovski will be returning to the Octagon a year after his loss against Ilia Topuria.

In the meantime Schaub jokingly added that if ESPN experiences any lag during the fight, he would be forced to take matters into his own hands. Why? Because last year at UFC 304 and then a few weeks ago at UFC 313, ESPN+ glitched so hard that it left the fans with a distorted screen as well as a subpar audio experience. When asked about the UFC 304 hubbub, the UFC CEO had stated, “I guess ESPN was having all kinds of problems tonight, technically, with audio and graphics and NFL graphics were popping up, and I heard about it, but I don’t know why.”

Fast forward to UFC 313, and ESPN once again became just as disappointing as Alex Pereira’s loss. According to fans and several UFC veterans, they couldn’t even purchase the UFC pay-per-view. Every time they tried, the screen glitched, and an error message appeared. When asked about this, Dana White added, “Yeah, they [the issues] made it to me. Yeah, there were problems buying it [the PPV] on ESPN Plus. I don’t know what happened with their platform tonight, but yeah, there are a lot of pi–ed-off people.” Well, what conclusion do we get from this fiasco?  UFC might not partner up with ESPN in the future after their current deal is up.

Moving on from the UFC-ESPN fiasco, the main event isn’t the only reason Joe Rogan is excited about the Miami card. The tension between Jean Silva and Bryce Mitchell has been building ever since the ‘Fighting Nerd star called out ‘Thug Nasty’ for a fight. Interestingly, Silva has asserted that he would punish Mitchell for the ‘Hitler’ comments, and in response, ‘Thug Nasty’ has promised to show Silva what it feels like to get inside the Octagon against him.

But that’s not all — the inclusion of Patricio Pitbull in the UFC has reignited an old rivalry. Which one? The Michael Chandler vs. Patricio Pitbull rivalry. The duo clashed during their Bellator days, with Pitbull securing a knockout victory over Chandler in 2019. Now that both are in the UFC, a revenge fight could be on the horizon if they both emerge victorious against their respective opponents.

Joe Rogan is immensely excited for the Miami card but what about the subsequent UFC 315? Well, the podcaster has emphasized that he might not travel for Belal Muhammad’s first title defense.

Joe Rogan has his own reasons to not go to Canada for UFC 315

Belal Muhammad will make his first title defense as he faces Jack Della Maddalena at UFC 315, set to take place at the Bell Centre in Montréal, Canada. In the co-main event, Valentina Shevchenko will defend her flyweight title against Manon Fiorot. However, is there any excitement from Joe Rogan about the Canada card? Well, it’s quite the opposite. When asked about the Montreal card, Rogan emphasized that he wouldn’t be attending the card due to his unwillingness to travel to Canada.

Well, it was common knowledge Joe Rogan doesn’t travel outside of the USA for his commentary. However, what the fans didn’t know is the fact that Canada falls under this rule as well, “I will not be there, I don’t go to Canada anymore, I don’t.”  When Schaub joked, “Nor should you,” Rogan responded with a laugh, saying he’d “rather go to Russia,” sparking laughter across the studio.

The podcaster stopped traveling outside of the US for the UFC events years ago as according to him he would love to spend time with his friends back in his studio rather than covering the hectic events. Given that, what are your thoughts on UFC 314? State your opinion in the comments below.
