To your surprise, Joe Burrow did try his hand at baseball back when he was young. Yes, the Cincinnati Bengals quarterback once stole bases and swung bats. But after entering high school, he dedicated himself only to football, and that decision worked out pretty well for him. You’ll know why.
Burrow has never really feared challenges. He’s the same guy who has led the Bengals to the Super Bowl and has set record-breaking numbers in the NFL. the 28-year-old arguably carries one of the most precise arms in football. Yet, on Saturday, he decided to dabble in the sport that he left behind decades ago.
At Fanatics Fest in New York city, Burrow was witnessed trying his hands at America’s favorite pastime – baseball.

Burrow, who is widely renowned as one of the best at throwing a football, was spotted throwing multiple pitches at a designated target set up at the fest. As he stepped into the tunnel, he gave his best to hit the target. However, he missed nearly every time.
Like a quarterback, he threw his ball short-armed. Naturally, it missed the target. But hey, since Burrow’s iconic baseball skill-set made it to the internet, it happened to be one of the most wildly entertaining clips of the weekend.
In all honesty, we’re talking about the two-time pro bowler who made his way within reach of a Super Bowl ring 4 years ago. Just a few stray pitches can’t really dent his legacy. But, it’s pretty much clear there are no future hopes of Burrow joining the Cincinnati Reds.
Jokes apart, let’s find out what the fans have to say.
Burrow’s baseball tosses spark hilarious reactions
Joe Burrow’s numerous attempts at trying to hit the target and missing all instantly went viral. Some discussed his mechanics. while others were in a mood of finding amusement in his attempts.
In all of the American sports, pitching in baseball is arguably one of the most unforgiving roles. Yet, there is no comparison with regards to intensity in both baseball and football. But hey, fans were quick to do so anyway. “Baseball—by far—is the most difficult sport to be good at. Not even close,” one user wrote.
Well, football is fast-paced and probably more injury-prone. It demands strength and requires split-second decisions. It’s tough, sure. Baseball, on the other hand, may be slow-paced at times, as it requires more precision and patience. But it also demands strength and fitness.
There’s no point of comparison here; it’s just that Joe Burrow is better off throwing a football than a baseball. So, obviously his baseball pitch had to be a bit weird. He’s an icon in the NFL world, not the MLB. “He’s out throwing a baseball like it’s a football, pretty hilarious to watch. It’s almost like throwing a football is so ingrained in him he can’t stop,” wrote another fan.
For the record, Burrow is good at what he usually does. Although he doesn’t have the strongest arm in the NFL, it’s his accuracy and quick release that make him one of the best in the game. Obviously the two sports are poles apart. And even fans acknowledge it, but in the most hilarious way: “Who knew baseballs and footballs are very different?” a netizen chimed in with a very sensible take.
All American sports have different mechanics. Burrow is the man who can launch a 40-yard touchdown pass. But that doesn’t mean he can hit bang on the target from 60 feet away. “ throwing a baseball with football mechanics,” a fan joked.
Now, Burrow breathes football. Naturally, he has worked on his mechanics and that’s all going to be showcased. Witnessing him at fanatics fest with a baseball and hitting and missing targets was more like two sports crashing in real time. And it was fun, let’s be honest!
“Has he never thrown a baseball before, like ever? I understand the habit formed with a football, but I have some knowledge that you’re releasing too late,” read another comment. A bit harsh, hey. Burrow has, of course, thrown baseball as a kid. Until high school, he was actively into the sport. However, since he dedicated all his life to football during and after high school, it wasn’t easy for him to tweak his form for the sport he left decades ago.
Burrow wasn’t trolled for his pitches, and why would he be? He isn’t an MLB player. But, fans made the most of his viral clip by drawing comparisons and taking jabs at him. All in jest!
