For weeks, the NBA community was on the edge of their seats. Everyone wanted to know what the future holds for Jimmy Butler. Amidst reports of sheer disobedience by the player and his multiple suspensions, everyone kept waiting, waiting. Now, the wait is finally over, as Shams Charania recently highlighted that Butler has found a new home. However, so have several others, at the very same time.
Shams Charania recently announced that Jimmy Butler has been traded to the Golden State Warriors! The player has secured a huge pay-day through this effort, as his new contract is reportedly set to be a two-year, $121 million extension with the franchise through 2026-27. However, it is coming at the price of Butler declining his 2025-26 player option.
The trade deal has caused the Bay Area to part ways with Andrew Wiggins, Dennis Schroder, Kyle Anderson, and a protected first-round pick. However, not all of them are heading to the Miami Heat. As part of the major multi-team trade agreement, Schroder will reportedly head to Utah Jazz, and Kyle Anderson to the Toronto Raptors. The Utah Jazz is parting ways with PJ Tucker, allowing him to once again play in a Miami Heat jersey. At the same time, Charania revealed that Miami is working through a resolution with Kyle Anderson. There is no official confirmation yet on whether he will stay, or be moved.
It is still too early to speculate just how beneficial the trade deal is for the Golden State Warriors. However, the Miami Heat are already seeing some benefits from it. According to Yossi Gozlan, Butler’s former team gets under the luxury tax through the trade, as they eliminate their $23.8 million tax penalty to create a $11 million trade exception.
