There’s a lot that sets the Dallas Cowboys‘ owner, Jerry Jones, apart… and if you ask any Cowboys fan, chances are they’ll rattle off a bunch of reasons. Hands-on approach, marketing genius, controversial but loyal, NFL power broker, you name it, Jerry’s all of that. But the one thing that really separates him from the rest of them is this: he’s both the owner and the GM of America’s team. A lot don’t love that, but it is what it is.
So, when Netflix dropped America’s Team: The Gambler and His Cowboys, Jerry finally addressed why he’s never hired a general manager. Turns out, he actually likes the pain. “I often asked the question, why don’t I hire a general manager? ” Jerry said in the docu-series. “I’ve had people that say, Jerry, you subject yourself to so much criticism. You need a buffer. I don’t like it like that. I like the pain.”
