It all started back in 2020 when Jake Paul decided to step into the boxing ring. At first, it seemed like just another business move—another way to stir up entertainment. But little did he know, his name would soon become synonymous with big money fights. Fast forward three years, and the 11-1, 7 KO boxer finally faced a real boxer in Tommy Fury. That night, he probably got a taste of what a real punch feels like.
But to his credit, he bounced back with a solid unanimous decision win over Nate Diaz the same year. Then came the big one in November—he stepped into the ring with the most ferocious heavyweight of all time (granted, way past his prime) and still walked away with a win. Since then, he’s been on the hunt for his next prey.
For a moment, it looked like he had locked in a fight with Mexican superstar Canelo Alvarez. But just when it seemed like the deal was set, His Excellency Turki Alalshikh swooped in and secured Canelo for a massive four-fight contract under Riyadh Season, leaving The Problem Child empty-handed.
Not long after that, new rumors started swirling—this time about a potential fight with Gervonta “Tank” Davis, given Tank could get past Lamont Roach Jr. on March 1st. But with that fight ending in a draw, those plans went out the window.
A mere hours ago, Fight Hub TV caught up with Timothy Bradley Jr. in Las Vegas. He was there at the Mikaela Mayer vs. Sandy Ryan weigh-in. During a quick chat, they asked for his thoughts on Tank’s recent draw. The Desert Storm didn’t hold back.
According to him, the 30-0, 28 KO boxer knows what he brings to the table. But after watching how mentally and physically tough Lamont Roach Jr. was during their March 1st fight, he realized there’s still work to be done. Bradley pointed out the fact that The Reaper put Tank on the canvas in the ninth round. And that event should be all the motivation he needs to come back stronger.
But along with that, Tank has one more reason to sharpen up his skills. Which is? A fight with Jake Paul.

“You know the fact that you got a draw, the fact that you had a big fight lined up with Jake Paul after this, and now you gotta wait, now you gotta do this rematch, bro. If this does not motivate you, I don’t know what will,” he said, frustratedly. Moreover, he added that the WBA Lightweight champion’s name is “getting dragged to the mud.”
On top of it, “All those fans that were on his side, bro, now a lot of them are switching teams,” he pointed out. That’s the reality of boxing. So to prevent that from happening, “He got a lot of proof. Not only to himself, but also to his fans.”
Bradley’s message is clear. If Tank handles his business in the rematch—does what he should have done the first time around—then all the negativity? Gone. Fans are quick to criticize, but they’re just as quick to forgive when a fighter delivers in the ring.
And after that? It’s back to bigger fights. Maybe even that showdown with Jake Paul. Bradley seems to think Paul is the guy Tank will go after next. But first, he’s got to clean up this mess. However, if you somehow missed the tea, let me remind you, the Jake Paul vs. Gervonta Davis fight was a real thing.
Jake Paul went to see Gervonta Davis in Brooklyn for a reason
A few weeks ago, boxing insider Dan Rafael shared an update on X. His post read, “Sources: @Gervontaa – @jakepaul exhibition was in works until @OneOf1x draw; Tank instead invokes rematch right, June sequel planned.”
Yep, you read that right. If the 30-year-old had won his fight against Lamont Roach Jr., we’d likely be talking about a Tank vs. Jake Paul showdown right now. But since the fight ended in a draw, those plans went straight out the window.
The 54-year-old later confirmed in an interview with Boxing News that the conversations were very real. “They were definitely talking, they were absolutely 100% talking that [had] Tank Davis won that fight against Lamont Roach, I think it would have been a very good bet that they were going to do a fight between Jake Paul and Tank Davis,” he admitted.
Multiple sources told Fight Freaks Unite that talks for the Jake Paul fight were already happening behind the scenes. Now, it’s to see whether they really settle their business after Tank finishes his rematch with Lamont Roach, either in June or July. Do you think Jake Paul should fight Gervonta Davis? How do you see that fight ending?
