The 2025 Xfinity U.S. Gymnastics Championships burst with energy as Leanne Wong and Hezly Rivera went toe-to-toe at the top of the leaderboard on the final day. Needless to say, the crowd’s entropy went through the roof when the two performed. And one of the loudest cheers came from their teammate, Jade Carey. Even though she was not competing in the 2025 Xfinity Championships, Carey shared a heartfelt message for her fellow senior gymnasts ahead of the second day of competition.
Not too long ago, the two-time Olympic gold medalist stood in support of Rivera’s plan. Rivera won the gold medal with a score of 112.000, leaving Wong with the silver just 0.800 points behind. But she didn’t really want to get under too much pressure. The New Jersey resident claimed last Wednesday, through an Instagram post, that all she’s doing is what she usually does in the gym. “I know normal is enough,” she assured her fans. And what did Jade Carey do?
She reshared the post on her Instagram Story and wrote, “Go Hez!! .” But this time, her emotions ran a bit deeper as she sent the message to the seniors ahead of the 2025 Xfinity Championships.
Via Inside Gymnastics, the 25-year-old resting artistic athlete said, “I just want to say good luck to everyone tonight. You’ve been working so hard. And so, this is your moment to just let it all go, and shine out there, and have so much fun. So, good luck, and I can’t wait to watch you guys.”
Listen to Jade Carey’s advice for the Senior Women at the Xfinity U.S. Championships ahead of Day 2! Thank you Jade!

Both Rivera and Wong managed to please the audience. Rivera delivered with her signature poise, while Wong, an Olympic alternate turned NCAA star, impressed with her trademark precision. But what about Carey?
Well, Jade Carey’s desire to perform alongside a greatly talented team isn’t a secret. Talking to the crowd recently, she shared, “OSU has been more than a university — it’s been my home, my family, and my source of strength. I’m excited to keep competing, to push my limits, and to chase excellence with the best team by my side.”
So, why wasn’t Carey participating in the Xfinity U.S. Gymnastics Championships this year? Has her confidence somehow gone down?
Why is Jade Carey out of the 2025 Xfinity Championships?
Being a part of the Oregon State Beavers, the gymnastics team of Oregon State University, is undoubtedly exciting for Jade Carey. But with an action-packed 2024 (with the Paris Olympics and the NCAA Championships), Carey has asked for a year off to rest. Talking to Olympics.com, she said, “I think I just want to take the year to kind of come down a little bit.”
For now, Carey is completely focused on her Digital Communication Arts degree. But she’s never too far away from the world of gymnastics. “I’m really excited for this season in college. I think probably in the beginning, I’ll take it a little bit slow, so I have a little bit of downtime. But you never know with me.”
With the hint of an optimistic return, Carey continued, “I feel like I can’t really [hold back]. I like to dive right in, but I’m excited to be able to really focus on my team this year. I’m not doing elite this year, so I just have them to focus on and that’s it. I’m really excited to jump in with them and be a leader and help get them to where we want to go.”
As Jade Carey continues to watch from the sidelines, Hezly Rivera claimed the win despite a deduction for belt elbows on the uneven bars. Meanwhile, Leanne Wong gave Rivera a tough competition, coming in on top of the leaderboard even if it was just for one rotation. Ultimately, she won the silver medal, followed by Joscelyn Roberson with the bronze.
But do you think Carey could have won had she participated in the 2025 Xfinity Championships? Don’t shy away from sharing with us…
