Jade Carey and Jordan Chiles Maintain NCAA Stronghold as Pair Finish Strong After Week 10

4 min read

Week 10 of NCAA gymnastics has ended, and unsurprisingly, the leaderboard remained unchanged. Who’s on the top, you ask? Well, it is the same team that topped way back in week 1. Yes, it is the Oklahoma Sooners, who have maintained a vicegrip on the rankings. Their season-long reign has seen them simply dominate and give electrifying performances. The likes of which other powerhouses simply can’t match. But it’s not just the Sooners’ dominance. Some other big names have also kept a good grip on the individual leaderboards as well.

Their week 10 scores reflect just how untouchable they’ve been. Oklahoma leads the National Qualifying Score (NQS) rankings with a commanding 198+ average, but individual gymnasts from other teams also showed their resilience on the gymnastics mat. Nothing to be surprised; Sooners are in the top two in all four events, placing first in bars (49.585) and floor (49.595).

They are also second in vault (49.445) and beam (49.515). All Things Gymnastics Podcast posted the week 10 report on X. With two pictures, two things have been made clear. While, as a whole, the Oklahoma Sooners are undisputed, on the other hand, there is one team that has outperformed them. And with the margin remaining small between them, Sooners cannot be too careful.

After all, all the top ten teams are divided by not even the margin of 1 point, with all of them above the 197 point range. Leading this charge is Oklahoma with 197.965, followed by the defending champions, LSU with 197.825. The Jordan Chiles-led powerhouse UCLA isn’t too far behind either, at #4 with a score of 197.600. However, despite the close calls, the Sooners maintain their razor-thin lead.

And this can be credited to the depth of their team. While some teams might have bigger superstars, Oklahoma has been a well-oiled machine, with each member making their mark. One of them, Faith Torrez, has been a major force in the all-around standings, proving to be one of Oklahoma’s biggest assets. Dominating the NCAA rankings, scored at vault (9.950) and floor (9.960) while ranking No. 2 on beam (9.950), No. 8 on bars (9.920), and No. 4 in the all-around (39.670).

The vault and floor scores helped her to maintain her position in the individual leaderboard as well. However, Jordan Bowers was also placed in the top 10 gymnasts with her floor exercise score of 9.960, holding number one place in the event, and no. 4 in the all-around with 39.675. With Faith Torrez and Jordan Bowers leading the charge, the Sooners are not just aiming to stay at the top—they’re looking to extend their dominance to the NCAA championship. But other gymnasts also showcased their resilience and managed their positions on top.

Gymnasts like Jade Carey and Jordan Chiles manage their positions

In recent NCAA gymnastics competitions, standout athletes have been making significant impacts. Oregon State’s Jade Carey continues to excel in the All-Around, consistently delivering high scores that keep her at the forefront of collegiate gymnastics. While Oregan couldn’t manage in the top rankings, Carey showed her resilience and topped the chart with 39.720 in all-around. Amazing, isn’t it?

Similarly, UCLA’s Jordan Chiles has been a force to reckon with, especially on the uneven bars, where she recently achieved a perfect 10.0, underscoring her exceptional talent. Jordan Chiles stands out in the floor exercise and got a tie with Bowers and Torrez of OU, whereas UCLA ranked at 4th position in team rankings. As these athletes continue to deliver stellar performances, all eyes are on the upcoming NCAA Women’s Gymnastics Championships.

The championship is scheduled for April 17 and 19, 2025, at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas. This prestigious event will feature the top eight NCAA women’s gymnastics programs and individual competitors, all vying for the coveted national title. Though two weeks are still left, it seems no other team will be able to defeat OU in the upcoming weeks as well.

The stakes are exceptionally high, with teams and individual gymnasts aiming to etch their names into collegiate gymnastics history. Fans and participants alike eagerly anticipate the culmination of the season, where champions will be crowned and legacies forged. Are you excited about the upcoming performance? Because we surely are.
