J.T. Miller’s Wife Recalls ‘Overwhelming’ Trade Experiences Whilst Addressing Canucks-Rangers Transfer Saga

3 min read

January is all wrapped up, and so is J.T. Miller’s time with the Canucks. Almost a month ago, Vancouver sent him packing to the New York Rangers in a trade that brought Filip Chytil, Victor Mancini, and a top-13 protected 2025 first-round pick their way. Oh, and New York didn’t stop there—they also scooped up Erik Brannstrom and Jackson Dorrington in the mix. And now, J.T. Miller’s wife is reflecting on the wild ride of past trades while opening up about the Canucks-Rangers deal!

When J.T. Miller got traded to the New York Rangers, Natalie Miller had a way different experience than their past trades. In a chat with Julie & Cat, she laughed about how her Type A personality had been through the wringer. “I really am Type A… I am probably one of the most Type A people who probably [be] me,” she admitted. But this time, at least, she had some warning. “It was nice to have a heads-up. The first two times J.T. was traded, I was one, eight months pregnant, and the second time was six weeks postpartum with a one-year-old… and we had no heads-up for those, so it was very overwhelming.” This time? She felt a little more prepared. “So when it actually did come, I was still so shocked.”
And, of course, the news came at the most random time. Natalie was on the Canucks wives’ trip to Whistler, a getaway she had helped plan, only to end up passing it off just in case. “I should probably go on that… I mean, if he’s not traded, I should still go and have a good time.” So there she was, living it up at Longhorn, celebrating with champagne guns, when her phone rang. “Oh no… it’s like 10 minutes before the game starts. This is it.” She turned her phone to the girls, and their faces said it all. “Oh no way.” Stepping outside, she heard J.T. say, “I just got traded,” talked to his agent, then walked back in and said, yep, it’s cocktail time.
But she wasn’t the only one dealing with a trade bomb that night. “One of the other girls’ significant others also got traded, which—like, a whirlwind. She wasn’t expecting it, felt so bad for her.” Instantly, Natalie went into problem-solving mode. “I immediately just like problem-solved and was like, you can live in our house in Pittsburgh, it’s fine.” The next morning? She woke up to a text. “I know we were really drunk last night, but like, can I actually do that?” Her response was just as chill: “Yeah, it’s no problem.” Because at this point? She’s a pro at rolling with the punches.
This story is developing…
