“As if the blue skies, bright sunshine and amazing sport weren’t dazzling enough for the athletes and fans in Lillehammer today, in walks Lindsey Vonn along with Lucy Vonn… her puppy!” Olympics.com wrote in February 2016. It was an article on Lindsey Vonn’s appearance in Lillehammer as the Youth Olympic Games’ ambassador. By then, she had already set herself up as the legend of alpine ski racing. Yet, in her appearance at the YOG event, her puppy stole the limelight. Lucy Vonn, as Lindsey adorably called her paw love, maintained a starry presence with the legend. Now, nine years later, things are different. 

Lucy Vonn is no more. The pet died on March 30. But Lindsey is feeling its shadow in her mind. On April 1, she posted on X, “I’ve cried so much in the past week I don’t know if there are any more tears left in me…”
