“It’s a Sign,” Paula Badosa and Stefanos Tsitsipas Shake Up Wedding Rumors in Their Fairytale Greek Ensemble

4 min read

Stefanos Tsitsipas and Paula Badosa’s romance started like any rom-com would. With a bet! Tsitsipas made a deal with himself that he’d message Badosa if she won her second-round match at the Italian Open. And she did. But it wasn’t all smooth sailing after that. Their love story has had plenty of twists: made public in 2023, briefly broken off in May 2024, and patched up just weeks later. Now, the pair seems more solid than ever. And with their latest appearance, fans can’t help but wonder—could a wedding be on the cards?

The 2025 Laureus World Sports Awards lit up the Spanish capital, gathering some of the biggest names in sport. Novak Djokovic, last year’s World Sportsman of the Year, passed the title to Swedish pole vault star Armand ‘Mondo’ Duplantis. Rafael Nadal received the Laureus Sporting Icon Award, and the room gave him a standing ovation that could have raised the roof.

But there was another moment that had cameras flashing. Tsitsipas and Badosa turned heads as they walked into the event in perfectly coordinated all-white outfits. Badosa wowed in a graceful gown while Tsitsipas sported a white suit with a sharp black boutonniere. The matching look got everyone talking.

Naturally, someone asked if wedding bells were ringing. Tsitsipas quipped, “It’s a Greek colour. Greek wedding.” Badosa replied, “Maybe it’s a sign.” The two laughed it off, but the teasing didn’t stop there. When asked about their wedding plans, Tsitsipas said, “We’re still trying to figure it out,” while Badosa added, “We’re competing like Spain, Greece, Spain but Greece has my heart.” But if and when it happens, it would be “for sure Mediterranean.”

The couple’s glam look also earned praise from fellow players and family members alike. Petros Tsitsipas, Stefanos’ brother, commented, “OPA .” Badosa’s sister Jana wrote, “Woww .” Emma Raducanu dropped heart emojis, “.” Grigor Dimitrov chimed in, referencing Zoolander, saying, “Hansel—he is so hot right now!” And Nick Kyrgios’ girlfriend Costeen Hatzi simply wrote, “Wow stunning!!! .”

The love was everywhere on Instagram. But while the couple dazzles off the court, not everyone is convinced their romance has helped on it. And the Greek tennis star is not having any of that criticism.

Stefanos Tsitsipas shuts down any negativity around his relationship with Paula Badosa

Back in April 2024, tennis legend Jimmy Connors had a bit of tough-love advice for Tsitsipas. He said, “Life is life and there are many other things to do besides playing tennis. But you have to remember that that is your life at that moment and it doesn’t last forever. So you have to try to concentrate on your business. Relationships are important, as is family. You have to adapt to all this. This is not a physical issue but a mental one. I’m sure Tsitsipas will fix all this.”

Critics have questioned whether the relationship has taken a toll on Tsitsipas’ performance. But the Greek star isn’t buying it.“People who claim that I am no longer focused on tennis, I train more than I ever did in my career,” Tsitsipas said earlier. On his connection with Badosa, he added, “I haven’t really felt that type of connection with anyone before.”

At the Laureus Awards, he doubled down. When a journalist brought up the negativity, Tsitsipas didn’t hold back and said, “I don’t really pay attention to it. I don’t read media. I don’t even follow media, and that’s also one of the reasons I’m out of social media during competitions. I don’t want to read, I don’t want to see, I don’t want to hear anything people have to say.”

Now, the couple moves from the red carpet to the red clay. Badosa, after a first-round bye, will play the winner of the Kudermetova derby—Veronika vs Polina. Tsitsipas, meanwhile, will face either Jan-Lennard Struff or a qualifier in his Madrid Open opener.

Will Tsitsidosa serve up another moment on the court—or maybe something bigger off it?
