Dubs fans were scared out of their wits in the last Warriors game when Stephen Curry took a nasty fall. He went in for a layup when two Toronto players blocked his way, sending him crashing to the ground. We were then informed that Curry would miss the rest of that game with a pelvic contusion. But, how bad was the injury exactly? How much longer would it be before Curry was back on the paint again? With so little information to go on, the Dubs nation feared the worst for Steph Curry. But, thanks to Shams Charania, we have some answers
Shams Charania reports that the injury to Curry is not as serious as it appeared. “MRI on Warriors star Stephen Curry’s pelvic area confirmed a contusion and no structural damage, sources tell ESPN,” read the report by Shams. Not only that, Shams also gave us a rough timeline for the 4x NBA champion’s return. “Curry is expected to miss the start of Golden State’s six-game road trip, beginning Saturday in Atlanta, as he receives treatment over the next few days,” he wrote in a post on Instagram. Bottomline: Stephen Curry will not play against the Atlanta Hawks but he will be back soon!
This is great news for the Warriors and their fans. It seems Curry will be back before the end of the regular season in the second week of April. So Dubs fans, you no longer need to worry about Steph missing the start of the postseason as some speculated before this update! However, the Warriors still have a few tough fixtures that they may have to endure without the presence of Curry. So let’s see what life may look like for them amidst his absence.
How will the Warriors stay the course without Steph?
The Golden State Warriors have looked phenomenal after bringing Jimmy Butler into the fold in February. They’re 9-1 in their last 10 games and look like bonafide title contenders. Even so, Steph Curry is still one of their stalwarts despite being 37 years old!
And the upcoming fixtures against teams like the Lakers, Nuggets, and the Memphis Grizzlies will be tough without him around. But we can’t forget the fact that they’ve received a huge boost to their depth after the return of Jonathan Kuminga. The 22-year-old was averaging more than 20 points in the games before his long absence due to injury. And despite looking a little rusty since his return, we all know he can pick up the pace when his team needs him.

That, coupled with players like Brandin Podziemski and Quentin Post having breakout seasons, means the Warriors have a lot of quality players among their ranks. And these players can help with the offense and defense while Curry’s gone. Moreover, experienced players like Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green will help the Warriors hold down the fort till Steph is back. So all the Warriors need to do is make sure they don’t drop too many Ls while Steph is out.
And even though the Lakers and particularly the Nuggets pose tough tests to a Curry-less Warriors, these teams have their own struggles with injuries to their stars. Namely, LeBron James and Nikola Jokic. All in all, the Warriors do have what it takes to keep their playoff spot secured while Steph is out. However, we do hope this absence doesn’t continue for too long. Everyone wants to see Steph and playoff Jimmy on the same court after all!
