It was the 2024 Masters. Scottie Scheffler’s beautiful wife, Mere was pregnant. She was not at Augusta, instead, she was in Dallas, at their home, waiting for Scheffler to return with a Green Jacket. “It’s a bit weird,” said Scheffler as it was his first tournament in quite some time without her. “She’s obviously my biggest supporter, and I definitely miss having her here.” On Friday, at that time, he proudly said he’d leave the Masters, no matter if he was winning if he got the call of his son being born.
“Definitely have a way to get home pretty quickly. We have somebody here that has access to their cell phone, if that’s all right.” He turned to the Masters member moderating the press conference as if making sure that would be permitted. “And, yes, I’ll be available to go home then whenever I need to.” All went well, Meredith gave birth to Bennett in May.
Fast forward, Bennett and Meredith have had several appearances on the greens since. The most recent was the Hero World Challenge at Albany in December 2024. During that event, despite his dad winning comfortably, Baby Bennett stole the show with his cuteness on full display. And now, #1 is competing at Torrey Pines at the 2025 Genesis Invitational. Is his loving family there to support him?
Well, yes! His baby boy and wife are there. Baby Scheffler was seen cheering on his dad with his granddad Scott Scheffler. The presence of Bennett Scheffler means that Meredith is also likely to be in attendance at the Torrey Pines Golf Course as her husband aims to win his first PGA Tour event of the 2025 season.
Meredith is a constant presence alongside Scheffler, offering support from the sidelines. Even international events. The Schefflers did create a buzz when the American golfer decided to book a place slightly further from the venue at the Paris Olympics, to enjoy some quiet time with his wife and son, both of whom accompanied him to the quadrennial event.

The biggest news from the Tiger Woods-hosted event would be the return to form of Scottie Scheffler. The World No.1 had missed a long period due to injury but after a few testy outings at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am (T9) and the WM Phoenix Open(T25), the American is second after two rounds of golf with a score of 7 under par. He is only one stroke behind leader Davis Thompson.
The Schefflers are like golf royalty at this point. How did their journey start though?
How did Scottie Scheffler meet Mere?
Highland Park High School. For Scottie Scheffler and Meredith Scudder, the school holds a significant place in their lives as it is where they first met. The shy Scheffler was a bit hesitant in approaching her but that likely worked in his favor. Future Mrs. Scheffler fell for the humble attitude the future World No.1 displayed. “At the beginning of high school, I always thought he had a super humble ambiance about him. He was just a really down-to-earth guy that doesn’t take himself too seriously.“
Meredith, who did not know much about Scheffler’s golfing career at the time, was pleasantly surprised to see him in an advertisement on TV, which portrayed his 2013 Junior Amateur Golf Championship win. The couple were involved in a long-distance relationship after Scottie Scheffler went to the University of Texas to further his golfing career while Meredith joined Texas A&M University. The distance proved to strengthen their relationship and in 2020 they got engaged! The duo tied the knot in December 2020.
Do you think the presence of Bennett Scheffler will prove to be lucky for Scheffler and earn him his first win of 2025?
