Back in December, the Dallas Cowboys rolled into Charlotte for their Week 15 matchup, but without their star corner, Trevon Diggs. By then, most folks already knew the 26-year-old wasn’t coming back that season. He tore his ACL in 2023 and ended up needing surgery on his left knee this past January. So yeah, his return in 2025? Still up in the air. That’s why Jerry Jones and America’s Team made a move in the draft, grabbing someone to fill in until Diggs is fully back. It sounds like you’ve addressed the situation, right? Well… not so fast.
Shavon Revel Jr. just lived out the dream every kid talks about. Jerry Jones’s Cowboys called his name in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft at 76th overall. Pretty special, right? Especially since he’s the first player ever from Reagan High in Pfafftown to get drafted. So, everything was going well, but a new report has caused concerns for the rookie, the team, and their fans overall.
According to editor-in-chief RJ Ochoa on X, Jerry Jones’s son, “Stephen Jones said he thinks that Dallas Cowboys third-round pick Shavon Revel will start the season on PUP.” So, this means the replacement of Diggs, who was brought in to fix the defense issues, is himself facing troubles.

Revel had all the makings of a first-round pick when the 2024 season kicked off. But just a few weeks in, everything changed. He tore his ACL, and shortly after, his season and draft momentum were gone. The Cowboys‘ doctor, Dr. Dan Cooper, did the surgery.
So when Dallas took a chance on him, it felt personal. Stephen Jones made it clear in Friday’s presser – they expect Revel to start training camp on the PUP list. But they’re hopeful he’ll be back before they leave Oxnard. If that happens, the Cowboys get the perfect window to close that college-to-NFL gap and help this kid catch fire again.
Meanwhile, the player’s current status appears to be weak!
Jerry Jones’ rookie cannot even lift!
Now you must be wondering why Jerry Jones and the Cowboys drafted him. Well, besides Reagan, Shavon Revel Jr. spent three years tearing it up at R.J. Reynolds High in Winston-Salem, rushing and receiving for over 500 yards each. At Reagan, he didn’t just play football, he starred in track too. His road wasn’t easy, though. Injuries hit him hard in high school. He fought through it, started at Louisburg College, and later transferred to East Carolina. There, he became one of the best in the American Athletic Conference by 2023.
At 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds, his athleticism turned heads. Some even thought he could be a first-round pick before a tough ACL tear in practice last September knocked him down draft boards. But Dallas didn’t forget. They saw the fighter in him. And all that hard work paid off. But as his status is still worrying, Jerry Jones’ new player revealed some worse information about himself.
After being selected by the team, Revel said, “I put on a whole blue suit. Hey, it might be a chance I go to them ‘Boys.’ It was crazy though because me and my family were talking about it the whole time, the whole month, this whole year.” No doubt, the athlete is elated to be a part of Jerry Jones’ franchise, but about his performance, the CB said, “Right now, I’m running straight lines.”
He even highlighted, “I can’t lift heavy. I haven’t gotten into the breaks and cutting yet, but I’ve been cleared by Dr. Cooper to at least progress my way up into doing things like that. So now that I got time, whenever I go back home or when I get to the facility, I’ll work on those things.” Until then, Jerry Jones and the Cowboys still haven’t found their fixed answer for this defensive position.
